Monchiero

Monchiero

The name of the village draws its origins from the latin term “mons clarus”, maybe for the beautiful geographical position that once its highest part used to have; the village lays now on the valley bottom, where the Tanaro river widens, forming a big meander.

On the high hill, we don’t have anything of the old village left, but the sanctuary dedicated to Madonna del Rosario, with its imposing building, characterized by a beautiful external portico, which you can clearly see from the road to Dogliani.
