Tenuta I Ciliegi is enclosed within a relaxing oasis among the vineyards of the Asti Langhe, a short distance from the town of Calosso with its medieval village, dominated by the castle and church of San Martino.
Here, Emanuele and Marco Garatti run the farm dedicated to the production of local wines (Barbera d’Asti, Moscato and the rare native grape Gamba di Pernice) and the accommodation business within the recently renovated estate mansion.
You can choose bed and breakfast, and choose to stay in a classic room, in one of the two suites, or in an apartment.
The estate offers different solutions ideal for families with children, friends or couples, ensuring a high level of privacy and ease.
The swimming pool, barbecue area, and private park are available to guests.
A story that
begins in 2017
in Calosso
A recent family history that combines receptivity and enology
The Garatti family, originally from Milan, has always had a fascination for this part of the Langa that straddles the Monferrato, an area off the beaten track of the most touristy routes and for this reason, arguably, more authentic and genuine.
From the family's Sunday outings and passion for wine, the decision matured years ago to purchase a first vacation home here, along with the first vineyard.
The property that now houses the winery and accommodation facility is later added.
Emanuele, a graduate in viticulture and enology from the University of Milan, officially opened the winery in 2018, after gaining experience at wineries in nearby Santo Stefano Belbo.
The arrival of summer 2023 brings with it the opening of the accommodation facility with bed and breakfast service.
He was joined shortly thereafter by his brother Marco who, having left Milan and his job, radically changed his lifestyle, choosing to join his brother in running the family business.
The Rooms
Privacy, family setting and close contact with the reality of the place where you are staying
The Garatti family provides three rooms and an apartment that were renovated in 2023, respecting local traditions while still providing comfort and relaxation.
Indeed, the furnishings are the family’s historic ones, side by side with modern choices. Evidence of this is the spacious reception area where tasteful classical and design elements coexist expertly placed.

The Wines
It all begins with the production of Barbera d'Asti DOCG, a wine linked to Piedmontese farming traditions
The wines of Tenuta I Ciliegi mirror the production territory: Barbera d’Asti DOG, Barbera d’Asti DOCG Superiore La Volpe e l’Uva, Calosso DOC Gamba di Pernice, Moscato d’Asti DOCG Bolle, Monferrato Nebbiolo DOC.
Work in the vineyard and cellar is done manually by Emanuele and Marco with treatments kept to a minimum and used only when needed.
The two versions of Barbera d’Asti DOCG
Barbera d’Asti DOCG was the first wine to be produced and is therefore rightly considered the wine of the heart.
It is an all-meal wine accompanies most dishes: first courses with sauces, cheeses, cured meats and main courses.
The Superiore version is produced from carefully selected grapes harvested from a single planting over 70 years old. Yields are limited and are due to thinning in the vineyard, which gives very high quality to the final product.
This Barbera, whose fame grows year by year, is aged for at least 6 months in small 225-liter oak barrels in order to impart roundness and body.
The traditional Barbera d’Asti DOCG, on the other hand, is made from grapes harvested in the Piana del Salto area, does not undergo passages in wood, is aged in steel and is ready a year after the harvest.
Calosso DOC Partridge leg
Grown on the bric, that is, on one of Calosso’s highest hills facing southwest, this wine owes its name to the distinctive reddening of the stalk as it ripens.
Calosso DOC is made from one of Piedmont’s oldest and rarest native grape varieties, Gamba Rossa, better known as Gamba di Pernice, which has recently been rediscovered and enhanced.
It is a dry red wine with a spicy and intense flavor and a strong personality. A product to be known and protected also for its being one of the smallest Italian DOCs.
Moscato d’Asti DOCG Bubbles
Moscato d’Asti DOCG is also a major player in the hills surrounding the estate.
It is the quintessential sweet wine to be consumed with all kinds of sweets, fruits or dry pastries and, according to ancient tradition, can be consumed as a drink outside a meal.

Swimming pool and outdoors
In an oasis of peace and tranquility can not miss the swimming pool and relaxation area
The 12 x 6-meter, in-ground swimming pool is one of the estate’s most appreciated places of peace.
Here one relaxes at the end of a day of hiking or simply becomes a place to gather, to enjoy a glass of wine from the farm’s production.
It is reached by walking through a shady arbor of wisteria and vines and, starting from the water, you are immersed in the surrounding rural landscape.
Deck chairs are provided, and beach towels and umbrellas are provided.
The swimming pool observes the following hours: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The park and outdoor facilities
Tenuta I Ciliegi is nestled in a large private park surrounded by hillsides planted with vineyards. Trees provide shade and shelter in the warmer months.
Outside, there is a large dehor, patio and barbecue area in the shared areas for guests’ use.
