The castle of Costigliole d'Asti

in Costigliole d’Asti

This majestic building was built in the XIII century. In the sixteenth century it was an important military stronghold, but what we see today is the result of a restoration made inthe nineteenth century that transformed the building into a then fashionable neogothic structure.

It has a square plant with four round towers. The facade on the east side still has many baroque features, while the western one shows the old drawbridge, ogival windows and flat-top merlons. From the stairs on the northern side it’s possible to enjoy a wonderful view of the big park surrounding the castle.

In the first Sunday of May inthe castle there’s the Barbera DOC feast.
