Torre-Castellino-Tanaro-3

Castellino Tanaro

Castellino Tanaro is a very ancient town, and was once a feud of the marquis of Ceva. It has a big cylindrical tower with merlons, more than thirty meters tall. The poet Carducci wrote about it as a “sentinel of the centuries”.

In the sixteenth-century parish church there are some discretely valuable frescos. There is also a V-century epigraph, on a wall in Francolini village, as a sign of the past times.

Two are the annual fairs: in August the Madonna della Neve and the patronal fair of the Assumption.
