Founded in 1985 by the oenologist Giorgio Negro, the winery is located in Gallina, one of the most suitable areas for the production of typical Albese DOC and DOCG wines.

The company name is a tribute to Giuseppe Negro, Giorgio’s father, who since the early 1950s personally led the vineyards producing a small amount of wine.

Born from the careful renovation of a Langa farmhouse, the location offers a splendid view of the surrounding vineyards and the villages of Guarene, Govone, Barbaresco and Neive.

The area is that of Barbaresco DOCG. A few hundred meters away is the historic center of Neive, whose village, for its historical and artistic heritage, is part of the circuit of the most beautiful villages in Italy.

The Wines

The word Monsù, literally lord, a typical term of the Piedmontese tradition, gives its name to Langhe Nebbiolo

The Langhe Nebbiolo DOC Monsù, red, still and dry wine, made exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes is one of the most significant labels of the company and is produced in about 10,000 bottles.

Depending on the characteristics of the vintages, an aging of about 18 months in oak barrels is expected.

Langhe DOC Rosato Monsù is produced with the same grape vinified in rosé.

The result is therefore a pleasant wine to drink, but at the same time structured and important.

It is perfect for aperitifs, fish dishes, white meats and cheese, but also suitable for any meal.

Two types of Barbaresco DOCG

From the 100% Nebbiolo vine they produce the Barbaresco DOCG Gallina and Pian Cavallo, whose maturation takes place for a period of about 24 months in oak barrels and 6-12 months of aging in the bottle depending on the characteristics of the year.

Both go well with red meats, roasts, game, cheeses and are suitable for long aging.

The tasting rooms

The company wines can be tasted in three different locations

The crutin, originally used as a storage area for bottles, is a small cellar located underground and cool area..

The main tasting room, with attention to every detail and communicating with the Monsù Terrace overhanging the vineyards, has glass walls with a view of the surrounding landscape.

From this belvedere, guests can enjoy a view overlooking the vineyards and taste the wines of the production in total relaxation.
