An old passion, safeguarded by a family who made grapes and wine their reason for life.
This is the sensation you'll have when entering the ancient court of the Tenuta San Mauro, where you'll be welcomed all year round with typical Langhe hospitality.
Among the orderly rows and the hills that stand soft and ancient on the landscape, Mauro Bianco's family will bring you into a world of flavors, colors and aromas which, only in a particular area such as this land, well-delimited, yet at the same time so varied, become grapes for exceptional and internationally recognized wines.
Tour of the Winery
The company, which has ample parking, is easily reachable thanks to the indications on route.
Mauro will be your host and visit guide.
The tasting session takes place in a characteristic hall overlooking the courtyard. The hall reflects father Ettore's passion for the territory and peasant culture, thanks to the recovery and restoration of period furnishings.
The production focuses on the Barbaresco DOCG, noble and intense, on the Barbera d'Asti Superiore DOCG, intense and full-bodied, on the Barbera d'Asti DOCG, harmonious and fruity, on the Langhe Chardonnay DOC, dry and well balanced, and on the sweet and fruity Moscato d'Asti DOCG.
The walk, with a panoramic view of the vineyards adjacent to the farm, introduces the processing phases in the wine making and refining rooms.
There's more information about tasting the wines and their costs in the box on the right.
The history of the estate will be narrated during the visit.
Due to its position, the current site of the company was one of the four defensive corners of the Castagnolese territory.
Sadly there is nothing left of the fortified structure, but it is assumed that the guard tower was reused for the construction of the small chapel found at the end of the tree-lined avenue, not far from the estate.
