Every year, just as we begin to recover from winter hibernation and get used to daylight saving time, here comes April knocking, and with it, days full of sunshine (hopefully).

So much for “April sweet dreams”: between Easter, April 25 and Vinum, you need to keep your eyes wide open here in the Langhe. The area wakes up in a big way with events related to food and wine and more, walks among the rows of vines or through trails in the woods, and many other outdoor activities.

We’ve taken a look at what’s going on in the coming weeks to point out the must-see events. Whether you’re in the mood for a weekend getaway or just a day trip, below are a few ideas for experiencing this area at its best.

Easter lunches in Langhe restaurants

Easter is approaching and the question is only one: where to eat? If you’re in the Langhe, Roero and Monferrato area, here are some succulent suggestions ready to grab you by the throat.

For those dreaming of an Easter immersed in the authentic flavors of the Langhe, the Vitae di Langa farmhouse offers a special lunch with a menu designed to enhance local products: starting with a tasty aperitif, followed by three appetizers, a first course and two main courses, and ending with dessert.

If you are a lover of experimentation in the kitchen, L’Argaj restaurant in Castiglione Falletto offers a refined and creative Easter lunch, including purple shrimp crudo, barbecue artichoke and venison sirloin. An out-of-the-box experience in an elegant, contemporary setting.

Two picnics, two experiences: among the rows of Treiso or on the paths of the Alta Langa

In Treiso, you can experience an Easter immersed in nature with a picnic organized by Francesca Mo.

The basket includes five cold appetizers or sandwiches, a bottle of wine for every three people, water, breadsticks, plaid, pillows, and board games. You can choose to enjoy your picnic among the rows of a vineyard or in the quiet of a forest.

Easter on the go with a picnic break? How about a day of loop trekking of about 10 km in Albaretto della Torre.

Departure is at 10 a.m. under the medieval tower, with a picnic break in a meadow adjacent to a picturesque little church. Return is scheduled for 5:00 pm. The cost is 30 euros per person, including picnic, accompaniment and insurance.

Open Doors at the Winery is an unmissable opportunity to discover the secrets of wine directly from the producers. Between guided tastings, passionate stories and tastings of local products, discover the protagonists of the area.

Liberation festival at Cinema Vekkio

Thursday, April 24 and Friday, April 25

In Corneliano d’Alba, Cinema Vekkio is organizing the Liberation Festival: two days of music, words and participation to remember and renew the commitment to a freer and more inclusive society.

On April 24, the evening opens with a concert by CurvArcobaleno, a band with ties to the area and issues of inclusion.

On April 25, from 3 p.m. until late in the evening, there will be DJ sets, live concerts and theatrical interventions in a varied program that combines different artistic expressions to give continuity to the democratic values born from the partisan struggle.

In Nizza Monferrato, tradition is renewed with the market, among the longest-running in Piedmont. The atmosphere is that of great bargains: under the arcades and along the pedestrian streets of the center, there are old-fashioned objects, modern antiques and vintage goodies to be uncovered at leisure.

On Easter Monday, the village of Monforte, among the most beautiful in Italy, is filled with colors and ideas with a market dedicated to local crafts. From wooden creations to creative sewing, via illustrations, ceramics and natural products, it is the right place to discover the talents of local artists and hobbyists.

In the historic center of Asti, more than 350 exhibitors enliven one of the region’s most anticipated antiques markets. Among stalls full of vintage furniture, ceramics, books, prints and curious objects, it is easy to get lost among stories to discover and collectibles.

Vineyard, wine and breathtaking views: at Drocco Luigi Winery, you literally dine among the rows.

After a walk through the vineyards and a visit to the winery with the producer, comes the highlight: a full lunch accompanied by five wines for tasting and one bottle for every two people. If it rains? You eat among the barrels , without losing the atmosphere.

Starting in Alba, teams of 2-5 people will explore the area following clues related to local culture, traditions and flavors.

Stops include guided tours of wineries, castles and historic villages, with tastings of wines and local products.

Saturday, May 3

Albaretto della Torre, kicks off Alta Langa in Movimento, an initiative that combines physical and mental well-being through free-body gymnastics and yoga sessions.

Every Saturday morning, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., participants can choose from single lessons or packages of 5 or 10 meetings, with the opportunity to enjoy an included aperitif or scenic breakfast. A chance to regenerate immersed in the tranquility of the hills.

Vinum

April 25 to May 1

Alba is hosting the 47th edition of Vinum, Italy’s largest open-air wine shop, debuting this year as the International Piedmont Wine Fair.

Through the streets and squares of the historic center, more than 700 labels to taste (including Barolo, Barbaresco, Roero Arneis, Dolcetto, Moscato and Asti Spumante) tell the story of the wine excellence of Langhe, Roero and Monferrato.

The tastings are guided by AIS Piemonte and paired with Street Food ëd Langa, offered by the villages of Alba. The carnet includes 16 tastings, a goblet with pocket, discounts on cocktails and admission to museums and castles in the area.

The program is enriched with thematic workshops, cooking classes at Roddi Castle, live music and family activities.

Alba Sotterranea

Friday, May 2 and Saturday, May 3

Alba Sotterranea is a journey through time, a tour led by a professional archaeologist that explores three of the 32 stops on the city’s archaeological trail. Walking through ancient Roman streets, remnants of medieval buildings and hidden mosaics, participants will discover the city’s deep roots.

The visit ends at the F. Eusebio Civic Museum, where you can learn more about local history. A unique opportunity to see Alba from an unusual and fascinating perspective.
