Wandering in Langa
July in celebration Must-see events in the Langhe among music, food and wine, and traditions

July in the Langhe is a hot month, and not just because of the temperatures. Villages and hillsides light up with events: street festivals, live music, outdoor dining and evenings that never end.
It is the time when the area really comes alive with a desire to get together, have fun and experience every corner until late.
If you’re planning a weekend here, or if you simply want to be inspired, here’s an overview of events not to be missed: village festivals featuring traditional dishes, outdoor concerts, cinema under the stars, music and theater festivals, vineyard evenings, and touring dinners among villages and farmsteads.
The Alba Jazz Festival is now a must for summer evenings in the Langa: four days of live music amid international notes and emerging young talent. Since 2007, piazzas and outdoor venues have been transformed into a full immersion of jazz, jam sessions and workshops.
This year, from July 3 to 6, four unmissable evenings are scheduled: starting with Lakecia Benjamin, contemporary vocalist on groove and soul; then Mohini Dey, phenomenal funk-jazz bassist; the auteur trio De Piscopo-Moroni-Bonaccorso; and in closing Aymée Nuviola, known as “La Sonera del Mundo,” Cuban music with her magical blend of musical genres.
Summer at Demarie’s winery kicks off in music on Saturday, July 5: From 7:30 p.m. until midnight, the outdoor dehor and garden above the barrique cellar are transformed into a stage among the vineyards at sunset.
Accompanying the live dinner will be Davide Cuccu, with an engaging and modern keytar & DJ set. A set menu with a Piedmontese flavor (homemade appetizers, roast and hazelnut cake) will be served, all included, along with a glass of wine to christen the beginning of the evening.
GoodWine Neviglie is one of the most anticipated summer festivals in Langa, three evenings that transform the small village into an open-air living room where wine, culture and cuisine meet. Guided tastings, studied pairings and dialogues between local producers and guests from other regions give a sensory journey that goes beyond the glass.
To stroll through the streets of Neviglie on these evenings is to discover the attention to detail, the eagerness to compare and the authentic welcome of a town that knows how to tell its story.
Each event features a different theme, with selected wines and traditional dishes served outdoors. There is no shortage of in-depth talks led by experts, chats with winemakers and the chance to experience the Langa in a genuine way.
Drocco Luigi Winery in Alba opens its doors (or rather its rows) to a very special vineyard dinner. The event offers a guided tour of the winery, explanations of microbiological and agronomic cultivation, and narration of the philosophy of winemaker Roberto Drocco.
Then, amidst the natural lights of the vineyard and the relaxed atmosphere, we move on to then aperitif, followed by dinner with 3 typical appetizers, 2 rustic starters, a main course with side dish, and a homemade dessert, all paired with house wines.
The experience is designed for everyone: vegetarian and children’s menus on request, and even an option to extend the discovery with an e-bike ride. Prices start at €67 for adults, with discounts for non-drinkers and children.
The 2025 edition of Monfortinjazz takes place as always in the charming Horszowski Auditorium: an open-air amphitheater carved out of the natural conformation of the medieval village, famous for its perfect acoustics.
Now in its 49th edition, the festival confirms its vocation as a prestigious stage for Italian and international artists, combining quality and immersive atmosphere in the landscape of one of Italy’s most beautiful villages.
This summer’s bill is a mix of virtuosity, energy and experimentation. It starts on July 5 with 40 Fingers, an acoustic guitar quartet capable of reinterpreting rock classics, soundtracks and original songs.
On July 15 comes Kamasi Washington, cult saxophonist who mixes jazz, hip-hop and spirituality in a visionary project. On July 20, space is given to The Original Blues Brothers Band®, featuring the soul-rhythm & blues energy of the stars of the cult film. On July 30 it will be the turn of pianist Brad Mehldau‘s refined trio, followed on Aug. 3 by Italian rock-folk icon Edoardo Bennato.
Three not-to-be-missed events for those who love to browse through vintage items, antiques and memories of yesteryear. In Santo Stefano Belbo, the Timeless Market invades Umberto I Square from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. with more than 80 exhibitors: vintage furniture, worn books, ceramics, vintage clothing and antique jewelry.
At the same time, Asti’ s Piazza Alfieri and Piazza Libertà host the traditional Antiques Market, active from dawn to dusk: unique pieces, curiosities and collectibles among the historic streets of the center.
In the Roero, in Canale, the Gran Merca’ delle Pulci is staged, a weekly market with more than 150 stalls set up along the medieval village-a veritable open-air museum where you can find furniture, jewelry, prints and vinyls, surrounded by picturesque views among towers, porticoes and ancient courtyards.
From the first week of July to the end of August, historic courtyards and squares are transformed into movie theaters under the stars, with screenings of contemporary films and large audiences.
In Bra, every Thursday (plus one Saturday) in the picturesque setting of the courtyard of Palazzo Traversa, art-house films such as Paolo Genovese’s “Follemente,” and Clint Eastwood’s “Juror #2,” are shown, with admission for only € 3.00.
In Alba, the Guido Sacerdote Arena hosts a parallel festival with screenings in a convivial atmosphere ready to engage both cinephiles and those looking for a different evening.
In the shadow of the rows of Villa Cornarea in Canale, the unique event of Sotto il cielo del Roero returns: a dinner among nature, flavors and conviviality.
From 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., travel through vineyards and hillsides to enjoy a scenic aperitif and a guided tour of the estate, during which you will discover the vocation of the Roero terroir amid stories and genuine scents.
From 8 p.m., dinner is served among the rows, with a traditional menu – vitello tonnato, lasagnetta with burrata, stuffed peach – and vegetarian alternative upon request, all accompanied by the estate’s wines.
Burattinarte Summertime is the historic festival that brings puppet, marionette and figure theater performances to the villages of the Langhe and Roero throughout the summer.
In July, the festival enlivens squares, courtyards and parks with free events designed for young and old, including comedy, poetry and theatrical crafts.
Burattinarte is an opportunity to experience summer evenings in a different way, rediscovering the desire to be together in intimate and authentic settings, with the beauty of illuminated villages and the timeless magic of an outdoor performance.
