The history of the winery begins with its founder Bartolomeo Demarie, who understood the potential of his area and chose to invest time and energy in the world of wine.

Over time, encouraging results allow the winery to grow, and his son Giovanni is also involved in the business.

The baton then passed to grandsons Paolo and Aldo, the third generation of Demarie winemakers.

Today they are the ones who carry on the work in the vineyard and in the winery, so they can pass on their knowledge to the next generation.

The Wines

Through soft pressings and aging in selected woods, the characteristics of the grape varieties are enhanced.

Roero represents an extraordinary terroir, capable of giving great wines and, at the same time, still little known and far from mass tourism.

The Demarie family has always made wine from its own grapes, bringing out the flavors of the land and the characteristics proper to native grape varieties.

Nebbiolo is the most important grape in Piedmont, which is best expressed on these hills in the Roero DOCG. It is a tannic wine, suitable for aging, which is aged in strictly used barrels.

The intense aroma with notes of violets, raspberries and blackberries is enhanced by elegant spicy touches. In the mouth you can immediately feel the wine’s great body, harmonious, warm and enveloping.

There is no shortage of the other great reds of the Langhe: Barolo and Barbaresco, joined by Barbera d’Alba, Langhe Dolcetto, and the sweet sparkling wine Birbet, made from brachetto grapes.

Arneis is the other symbolic grape variety of the area, a variety that has been recovered and enhanced in recent years and is offered here in still and Metodo Classico versions.

The winery’s offerings are complemented by Moscato d’Asti DOCG.

Visits & Tastings

Familiar welcome in a traditional Roero setting, but forward-looking.

The tour begins in the fermentation rooms where the operation of the tanks and the wine-making process is explained.

It continues in thebottling and labeling area, the most technological part of the company.

We then come to the aging room, the romantic part of the winery, where the wines rest in wooden barrels.

Finally, we come to the long-awaited moment of guided wine tasting, accompanied by mouth-watering samples of local products such as cured meats, cheeses, jellies, dry pastries and hazelnuts.

A green cellar

In building the new winery, Aldo and Paolo chose to follow the path of environmental sustainability.

A photovoltaic system on the roof was chosen to produce the electricity, and in case it is not enough, the company sources from the Grosio hydroelectric power plant.

Heating is provided by a biomass boiler, fueled by wood chips from waste wood, including shoots pruned from vines.

A phytodepuration plant cleans up wastewater, so the filtered water can be reused to irrigate green spaces in the winery.

Passion for the environment

These measures have resulted in A+ certification, the highest energy certification for buildings.
