Castle of Govone

in Govone

The baroque castle in Govone is probably the only one by Juvarra.

It was built in 1778 on an older one, dating back to the fourteenth century, and was further transformed from being a fortress into today’s sumptuous villa by the counts Solaro.

The castle was so beautiful that Vittorio Amedeo III di Savoia bought it for one of his sons.

Later, Carlo Felice added to it the majestic stairs, decorated with statues and caryatids, and had the ball salon frescoed by Luigi Vacca. He also had the stairs and the gallery to the Fraternity of the Holy Spirit built in a neoclassical style.

Today the castle is the site for congresses and exhibitions.

The castle is open every Sunday from late March to late October at the following times: during the months of March, April, May, June, September, October 10-12 in the morning and in the afternoon from 15 to 18 while in the months of July and August in the morning 10-12 and 16-19 in the afternoon.

Tours are guided and the whole input € 4, reduced € 3 (OLTE 65 years) free of charge up to 14 years.

Closed November, December, January, February and the following days: Monday (Easter Monday), 1 May, 2 June, 15 August (Assumption)
