Today the business is based in La Morra, to be precise in the Annunziata hamlet, among the UNESCO hills, places known all over the world and capable of offering breathtaking views and food and wine excellence.

Common glimpses in the collective imagination

The road to the winery offers the panoramic views that are most frequently chosen to represent this territory.

From here, in a few minutes you can reach the villages of La Morra, Barolo, Verduno and Alba, the capital of the White Truffle.

The reception is carried out directly by the owners: father Gian Piero, mother Giovanna and the three daughters Denise, Serena and Valentina.

Parking is available both adjacent to the company and not far away in the church square.

The guest is guided in the tour of the cellar and in the discovery of the numerous wines of the production with the possibility of carrying out special experiences such as cooking classes, dinner in the aging room and viticulture lessons.

A story that
begins in 1957

in La Morra

For over a century, four generations of passion, tenacity and hard work. A history of tradition with an eye always looking to the future.

Marrone Pietro was born in 1887 into a family that already produced wine grapes.

In 1910, with the approval of his father Edoardo, Pietro began to cultivate some vineyards according to revolutionary techniques for the time: reduced production to raise the quality and the choice to eliminate the sowing of wheat between the rows.

These decisions are winning: the grapes are the most beautiful in the country and in a short time all the vineyards are converted to a modern vineyard.

The second generation sees Carlo, born in 1924, with his brothers Paolo and Michele and his sister Mariuccia engaged in the company's efforts.

A difficult period due to the outbreak of the Second World War which distanced Carlo from the vineyards and from his family.

With the end of the world conflict, the enthusiasm of the recovery is rewarded by the growth of the company both in quantity and quality.

The farmhouse becomes more and more beautiful, so much so that in the town they begin to call it Cascina Carlot, Carlo's farmhouse.

With the third generation, represented by the current owner Gian Piero Marrone, the time is ripe to make himself known to the world and to plant the native white vines: Arneis, Favorita, Moscato, to be added to those of Barbera, Dolcetto, Nebbiolo and Nebbiolo for Barbaresco and Barolo.

Finally, Valentina, Serena and Denise, daughters of Gian Piero and Giovanna, represent the fourth generation, holding specific roles in the company.

Assisted by Marco, Serena's husband, they ambitiously lead the company towards new goals, looking to the future, but without forgetting the tradition and teachings handed down by their ancestors.

The Wines

A family of passionate wine producers to offer you the wine excellences of the Langhe

The company offers 19 labels and the wines are derived from the best known Piedmontese vines: Arneis, Chardonnay, Favorita, Moscato, Barbera, Dolcetto and Nebbiolo.

Barolo DOCG

Among the numerous labels for tasting, Barolo DOCG is the pride of the winery.

Produced from 100% Nebbiolo grapes, this vine is delicate and difficult to grow: its slow maturation which often lasts until November means that it is often harvested in the autumn mists.

A vine that bears in its name the idea of nebula, the autumn frost that settles on the dark berries, making them almost blurred.

The Pichemej version represents the spearhead of production by harvesting the best grapes from the best vineyards.

A red with a perfect balance to be tasted immediately or left to age to be shared over time as a meditation wine with friends.

An austere and important product that is well suited to the most important dishes of the Piedmontese tradition.

Langhe DOC Arneis Tre Fie

Among the whites, the Langhe DOC Arneis Tre Fie, three daughters, in Piedmontese dialect is a clear reference to Denise, Serena and Valentina.

It is obtained from the processing of Arneis grapes, a typically Piedmontese vine rediscovered in the 70s.

It stands out as a versatile wine, excellent throughout the meal, excellent with aperitif and unmissable with dishes based on white meats and fish.

Produced Wines

Other experiences

The Marrone family offers alternative experiences that go beyond the classic tasting and guided tour

To allow guests to get to know the territory in depth, the Marrone family has thought of proposals aimed at transmitting knowledge and culture of the territory.

The cooking lessons

The cooking classes were therefore born, or half-day cooking classes, during which mother Giovanna and chef Paolo Garabello offer guests the opportunity to learn the most typical recipes of the area.

Viticulture lessons

It is also possible to organize a visit to the old family farmhouse located in Madonna di Como, a small hamlet of Alba, where the largest extension of the vineyards is located.

An experience in the field that allows, while having fun, to participate in a viticulture lesson, discovering plantings, farming systems, work in the vineyard and ending with a tasting in the cellar.

Guided tastings and insights

Amateurs and enthusiasts can participate in real in-depth lessons on the various grape varieties, on specific wines of the production or verticals of different vintages of the same wine, depending on availability.

The management of the vineyard

During the visit, the guest is also informed of the approach that the company has towards the vineyard and the environment in which it operates.
According to the philosophy that the healthier they are, the better the grapes harvested during the harvest will be, the management of the vineyards is aimed at creating an ecological system that allows plants to be in the best conditions of life.
The work in the vineyard is carried out exclusively by hand, from pruning, to the thinning of the bunches, to the harvest, where expert hands select and transfer the grapes into perforated boxes that will allow the grapes to arrive in the cellar in optimal conditions.
