Terre Alte offers you a route of very high geological and landscape value that runs in the area of two municipalities, La Morra and Cherasco. We will discover fascinating and little-known corners of Langa together!
The route
We will start from the charming historic center of La Morra and after observing from the Belvedere Terrace the wide panorama of the Barolo hills, we will head west of the town.
We will pass through a bucolic and quiet area characterized by vineyards, wide green spaces and hazelnut groves.
We will reach the small country church of Sant’Anna: the view is beautifully open to the Tanaro Valley and the town of Cherasco, in the background the chain of Alps dominated by the peak of Monviso.
The route continues among wide cultivated fields and orchards and after passing through small, secluded hamlets.
We will follow a path, pleasant and bucolic, set among vineyards and hazel groves that will allow us to admire the first outcrops of chalk crystal formations dating back to the period defined as “Messinian.”
The most striking and interesting part of the trail is the part that will allow us to admire the steep walls of a small canyon characterized by the presence of imposing boulders formed entirely of chalk crystals and an impressive cave of “chalks.”
We are located in the territory of the secluded and quiet hamlet of San Bartolomeo di Cherasco. The small town is home to the first ecovillage in the Langhe: the “Casa Rotta.”
In addition to its geological interest, this part of the route allows us to admire a spectacular view of the Alpine arc, the Langa of Novello, the loops of the Tanaro River, and the entire valley opening to the west. We will return by taking an equally scenic and interesting route.
A fascinating rendezvous in the Langa hills to savor the magical atmosphere of spring and visit truly special places!
Suitable for: cheerful people, companies of friends, families with children 7 and older (used to walking), singles and singles, couples…..and anyone who wants to spend a Sunday outdoors and admire beautiful views.
Convivial Moment: The Wines
