Fratelli Ferro Wine and family hospitality
Business Hours
Closing Day
The story of Fratelli Ferro was born from a concrete peasant tradition, made of sincere wine, daily work, and relationships built over time. Before bottles, there were demijohns, trips to Turin to deliver wine and farm products, handshakes with customers, and a presence in the area that, year after year, has become increasingly solid.
As in many small farming realities, the demijohn was not just a container, but a symbol. That large glass bottle told of an authentic and concrete way of experiencing wine, linked to hard work, sharing, and relationships. It was a time when wine was not just sold: it was shared. And from every delivery, a handshake, a relationship of trust, and often a friendship could be born.
Today as then, the strength of Fratelli Ferro remains the same: being a family. A family that has chosen to remain united in work and to carry on production with a shared vision, faithful to its roots and open to the future.
The truth is that here we have never been just a company. We are a family. And you can feel that.
Fratelli Ferro is the expression of a close-knit family, where each generation helps carry forward a story built on land, hard work, and passion.
From the vineyard to the cellar, all the way to welcoming guests, everything is personally managed by the family.
This is the wine of conviviality: fresh, lively, and incredibly easy to drink. It is produced in both a young and a more structured version, showcasing two different souls of the same grape variety.
A story that
begins in 1920
in Castiglione Tinella
A story made of intertwining generations, where different eras coexist.
It all started in the 1920s with Pasqualina and Giuseppe Ferro, who founded a farm based on grapes, wine, and daily work in the countryside.
Later, the business passed to their sons, Natale and Pierino: two different but complementary figures. Natale was more tied to the vineyard, while Pierino was more oriented towards sales and customer relations.
For years, the company maintained a traditional agricultural structure: growing grapes and producing wine, with part of the production sold in bulk and the rest vinified in-house, mainly red wines.
At the time, there were also complementary farming activities, including poultry. Later, a gradual change began: almost as an experiment, the first bottles of Moscato d’Asti were produced, which over time became increasingly central.
In parallel, Pierino and Natale had already developed a network of customers thanks to fairs and direct sales.
The turning point came when Andrea, Natale's son, joined the company permanently in his early twenties after studying oenology at the Alba Institute, bringing new technical skills and a more modern approach to production.
Today, the company has about 35 hectares spread across four municipalities. Management is entrusted to Andrea, together with his uncle Pierino, who remains a historical point of reference. Working with them are Chiara, Andrea's wife, and Paola, Pierino's daughter, who returned to the company after her studies.
The Wines
Where tradition becomes the root and change becomes the lifeblood
The wines of the Fratelli Ferro winery are a reflection of a family and productive journey: a continuous dialogue between wisdom passed down and the desire to innovate without losing identity.
A family path that has never lost its direction: making wine with the same authenticity as in the past, maintaining a direct, genuine approach deeply linked to the land.
Over time, the effort of work carried out manually, as per tradition, has been joined by modern technologies, capable of ensuring precision, timeliness, and greater quality control.
Today, the company practices integrated agriculture with a reduced environmental impact, limiting treatments to preserve the health of the land and the balance of the vineyard.
Each bunch is vinified in the cellar with a single goal: to respect and enhance the natural quality of the fruit.
The wine labels recall the ancestors’ historic farmhouse, located near the company, in the area where the original vineyard where it all began is found—the same house where Natale and Pierino were born and raised.
The logo, instead, is a tribute to Castiglione Tinella: the well and the two lions, symbols of the town, recall local tradition and also connect to the Vigna dei Leoni, dedicated to Mattia and Beatrice, children of Andrea and Chiara.
The most representative wines
In this highly suited area, there is also space for the cultivation of Moscato d’Asti DOCG, an expression of the territory’s identity. Langhe DOC Nebbiolo and Barbera d’Asti DOCG represent the winery’s signature wines and are among the most appreciated by guests.
The Barbera d’Asti is produced in two versions: a more immediate one, aged only in steel, and a Superiore aged for 15 months in French oak. These wines are ideal for pairing with structured first courses and full-bodied main courses.
The Moscato d’Asti, on the other hand, pairs with the traditional Langhe hazelnut cake, in a classic and local combination.
The production is completed by Dolcetto d’Alba, Grignolino, Barbaresco, two white wines, a Cortese, and two sparkling wines dedicated to Beatrice, as well as an Arneis and a Viognier from the Vigna dei Leoni.
The wine of the future? The one dedicated to their son Mattia.

Experiences
In the cellar, the story is always told by the family
Every visit starts with a simple question: “who are you?“. Not in a formal sense, but an authentic one. Are you curious or an expert? A passing traveler or an enthusiast?
The answer changes everything: the pace of the story, the tales to share, the tone of the visit. Here, no two experiences are the same, because every path is born from the encounter with those who arrive at the winery.
The winery tour
It begins outdoors, among the rows. In the beautiful season, the Moscato vineyard just outside the company becomes the first chapter of the story. Walking among the vines, you understand the bond between those who work the land and what the land gives back.
We talk about how the vine changes month after month, what it means to wait, to intervene at the right moment, and to respect times that cannot be rushed.
Then you enter the cellar. The smell, light, and temperature change, and so does the story, which can become more technical or more poetic, depending on the listener.
One of the most significant moments is the meeting with Pierino, who is still present and active in the daily life of the company. In his words, there are decades of harvests, experience, and choices made even when there were no certainties.
The visit continues in the historic room: a small, almost hidden space that has remained intact, where it all began.
The most anticipated moment: the tasting
The journey is built around three wines with different characters: a white and a red of your choice and the Moscato d’Asti. Moscato, in particular, is not just a wine: it is one of the most recognizable voices of this territory.
Even during the tasting, the experience remains flexible, with the possibility of suggesting alternatives designed to meet the tastes of each guest and make the journey pleasant and personalized.
The glasses are accompanied by a platter of typical products and, to always ensure the best welcome, advance booking is required.
The price of the visit and tasting is €15.00 per person.

Every wine has a story to tell, and every tasting is a moment to be shared.
Between steel and wood, every wine follows its own path. Here, we wait, we observe, and we guide the process. Without rushing.
The harvest is the culmination of a year’s work. Picking the grapes, the aromas, hands stained with must: this is where the wine truly begins to take shape.
