The Alba Diocesan Museum Foundation is organizing a day open to all to inaugurate and raise awareness of the new BOOKS FOR ALL shelf set up in the MAB Room at the Diocesan Library on the ground floor of the Bishop’s Seminary.
The Library joined the Books for All project in 2023, the network of libraries in Piedmont created by Paideia Foundation to offer tools, specific knowledge and opportunities for sharing and disseminating books translated into symbols to encourage accessible reading for all children.
Inauguration
The opening is Friday, Sept. 20 at 5 p.m. at the Bishop’s Seminary (Vittorio Veneto Square, Alba).
It will be An opportunity to introduce the MAB Hall to the city and the territory. And the use of books in symbols.
The MAB room
The MAB Room (Museum – Archives – Library) is a space for sharing and meeting, welcoming all children and young people to read new stories made of symbols and drawings, among colorful carpets and pillows. Once again this year, the Books for All shelf has. enriched with the purchase of new books translated into Augmentative Alternative Communication symbols, the aid composed of writing in symbols that Facilitates and offers people with complex communication needs the opportunity to communicate and participate, but it is also a useful tool for foreign people on their first approach to the Italian language, for everyone to compare and understand diversity.
The service is free of charge and is available to families, educators, therapists and teachers in the area for the use, on site or by loan, of books in symbols but also multimodal and multisensory books.
Thus, we hope that reading, as a participatory tool, will make ALL children and youth who come to MAB Hall happy.
At the end of the presentation, refreshments will follow for all present in the spaces of the Bishop’s Seminary.
