The Poderi Gianni Gagliardo has its roots in the history of a traditional rural family that has always cultivated vineyards in areas with a high vocation in Piedmont.
In fact, since 1847, the Colla family, generation upon generation, moved from Santo Stefano Belbo, an ideal area for Moscato grapes, to Diano d’Alba, which has always been renowned for Dolcetto grapes, and finally to La Morra, in the Barolo area.
It was Paolo Colla who crowned his dream of producing Barolo, by purchasing a small farmhouse with a vineyard, and started making wine with the care and attention that only passion and respect for the land can give.
Today there are 10 plots dedicated to Barolo – divided in 5 municipalities – which fall within the Lazzarito Geographical Indications (with official recognition of the Vigna “Preve” toponym), Castelletto, Monvigliero, Mosconi, Fossati, Bricco San Pietro, Santa Maria, and the original Serra dei Turchi, where it all began.
The origins of the Gagliardo winery actually derive from the Colla family, which began its journey in Santo Stefano Belbo in 1847. Paolo Colla was the first to produce Barolo.
The Wines
The winery produces 16 wines, including 11 reds and 2 whites.
One of these, however, deserves a special mention: the Langhe Favorita “Fallegro”, which reached its 46th harvest with the 2019 vintage.
Of the 14 reds, as many as 11 are based on Nebbiolo grapes, a variety that, besides being the most noble of our territory, is the absolute favorite variety of the Gagliardo family.
The family, today composed of the founder Gianni and his three sons Stefano, Alberto, and Paolo, is at the heart of the project.
The artisanal approach, with great attention to the environment, to sustainability in general, and a great care for detail in every single phase, are the founding pillars of the current production approach.
In order to operate in this way, the number of bottles is necessarily limited.

Agricultural Method
From this vineyard of Lazzarito officially recognized with the toponym of “Preve” comes the most awarded Barolo of the Gagliardo winery
The vineyards are cared for with extreme attention to detail, and present themselves to the visitor as green and luxuriant oases, visibly healthy
The constant development of the Colla family and later of the Gagliardo family has allowed them to own some of the most prestigious vineyards of the Langhe
Experiences
The vinification cellar was developed underground, right beneath the original farmhouse.
In this way, optimal technical characteristics are guaranteed, including the use of gravity and constant temperatures with low energy consumption. Furthermore, its underground development respects the precious landscape of the Langhe vineyards, which have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2014.
The concept of excellence that characterizes the winery also includes the hospitality and service provided to people who decide to visit Poderi Gianni Gagliardo and discover their wines.
This is personally taken care of by the youngest son, Paolo, who is always present in the company to best welcome curious and attentive visitors.
There are 6 types of experiences that can be booked, differing in focus and tasting, but they all begin with a visit to the cellar. This takes place in the aging rooms, where the history and philosophy of the family will be shared with you.
From the panoramic terrace, you will be introduced to the Barolo territory, with a definition of the characteristics that make it unique in the world.
