In the midst of many traditional wineries with a long history of male management, Cecilia Monte leads the Winery in Neive that bears her name.
A recent history
In 2000, after completing her university studies, Cecilia took over the reins of the family estate, starting to produce and vinify her own grapes, which until then had been sold or processed by her father for a small personal production.
Cecilia learns the trade in the field thanks to the teachings of two of the most renowned Barolo producers: Luciano Sandrone and Domenico Clerico.
Today she is the one who welcomes her guests to the Winery, taking care to offer them a glass of Dolcetto to taste as a welcome to the visit.
The private house and the cellar, within the same building, are adjacent to the vineyards
The cork and bottle cap perform an important function: they seal the bottle and prevent external exchange and wine leakage
Refined interiors in terms of architecture and arrangement of elements
The Wines
The wine range includes: Dolcetto, Barbera, Langhe Nebbiolo, and Barbaresco
The Serracapelli cru in Neive represents Cecilia Monte’s production area.
This small vineyard area is capable of producing structured wines with a refreshing balsamicity that are well-suited for aging.
The Barbaresco DOCG
Among her labels, the Barbaresco DOCG Serracapelli stands out in both the classic and Serracapelli versions Dedicated to Paolo.
This is a very limited edition wine whose grapes come from a small parcel of old vines.
2021 is the year of the Barbaresco DOCG San Giuliano.
The grapes, harvested in the second half of October, come from the cru of the same name, overlooking the Borgo Vecchio of Neive.
Aging is carried out in stainless steel at a controlled temperature.
Following malolactic fermentation, the wine ages in large Italian oak barrels for 12 months.
The other labels
Production continues with the Dolcetto d’Alba DOC Montubert and the Barbera d’Alba DOC Maria Teresa, made from grapes from a single vineyard with an average vine age of about 50 years.
The Langhe Nebbiolo DOC Ca’ di Monti is produced from a vineyard planted in the early 2000s.
This is a wine with high drinkability, aged in steel, which remains in contact with wood for a very limited time.
The three whites in production.
The first white wine made by Cecilia is the Piemonte DOC Viognier Lume, which comes from the processing of 100% Viognier grapes.
It is a fresh and young product, with a brilliant yellow color rich in floral notes and fruit sensations, balanced by good freshness and minerality. It is also the wine dedicated to her children.
Alongside the Metodo Classico Settembre is the production of Colli Tortonesi DOC Timorasso Campogatta, which Cecilia Monte cultivates in the locality of Sarezzano, near Tortona (AL).
The wine is made from 100% Timorasso grapes, an ancient Piedmontese variety with extraordinary structure and longevity, characterized by citrus and floral scents.

Grape processing and aging rooms are collected in environments with the right balance between the past and modernity.
The feminine hand does not go unnoticed in the care and research of details that become real educational tools useful to the visitor.

The Serracapelli Cru
The Winery is located in an area particularly favorable for the production of Barbaresco DOCG
The visitor’s experience begins even before reaching the estate, traveling along the roads that climb the hill.
You pass through small hamlets that give their names to specific cru, small areas, not far from each other, but capable of offering different wines.
The Barbaresco DOCG
Produced with 100% Nebbiolo grapes, it is a DOCG wine whose production is allowed in the territories of the municipalities of Barbaresco, Neive, Treiso, and in the hamlet of San Rocco, part of the municipality of Alba.
The cru where Cecilia works is called Serracapelli: a patch of land rich in natural biodiversity.
This is a small corner of the territory dear to Paolo Monte, Cecilia’s father, who always identified this area as particularly suited for the production of Barbaresco DOCG.
The Barbaresco dedicated to him is produced from a small parcel located among these vineyards.
The Serracapelli cru
Cecilia Monte’s Barbaresco is an example of quality full-bodied red wines from Piedmont. Matured in barriques for 12 months, it presents fruity, spicy and ethereal scents
You can enjoy the view of this small town directly from the tasting room
Cecilia Monte proposes three tasting experiences: classic, picnic among the vines and lunch or dinner at the winery
