In the midst of many traditional wineries with a long history of male management, Cecilia Monte leads the winery in Neive that bears her name.
A recent history
In 2000, after completing her university studies, Cecilia took over the reins of the family estate, starting to produce and vinify her own grapes, up to that moment conferred or processed by her father for a small personal production.
Cecilia learns the trade in the field thanks to the teachings of two of the most renowned Barolo producers: Luciano Sandrone and Domenico Clerico.
Today she is the one who welcomes her guests in the cellar, taking care to offer them a glass of Dolcetto to taste as a welcome to the visit.

The private house and the cellar, within the same building, are adjacent to the vineyards
The cork and bottle cap perform an important function: they seal the bottle and prevent external exchange and wine leakage
Refined interiors in terms of architecture and arrangement of elements
The Wines
The range of wines includes: Dolcetto, Barbera, Langhe Nebbiolo and Barbaresco
The Serracapelli cru in Neive represents the production area of Cecilia Monte.
This small vineyard area is able to give wines with a refreshing and structured balsamicity that are well suited to aging.
Production
Among its labels stand out the Barbaresco DOCG Serracapelli in the classic version and the Serracapelli Dedicato a Paolo.
It is a very limited edition wine whose grapes come from a small parcel of old vines.
Production continues with Dolcetto d’Alba DOC Montubert and Barbera d’Alba DOC Maria Teresa, made from grapes grown in a single vineyard with an average age of the rows of about 50 years.
The Langhe Nebbiolo DOC Ca ‘di Monti is obtained from a plant dating back to the early 2000s.
It is a highly drinkable wine, aged in steel which remains for a very limited time in contact with wood.
The three whites of the production
The first white wine made by Cecilia is the Piedmont DOC Viognier Lume, which is made from 100% Viognier grapes.
It is a fresh and young product, with a bright yellow colour rich in floral notes and fruit sensations, balanced by a good freshness and minerality. It is also the wine dedicated to its children.
Next to the Metodo Classico Settembre is the production of Colli Tortonesi DOC Timorasso Campogatta that Cecilia Monte cultivates in Sarezzano, near Tortona (AL).
The wine is made from 100% Timorasso grapes, an ancient Piedmontese grape variety, endowed with extraordinary structure and longevity and characterised by hints of citrus and flowers.

Visits & Tastings
Weather permitting, the tasting begins with a walk among the rows
Here Cecilia will introduce the company and the territory, with notes on the work in the vineyard and the influence that exposure, climate and soil have on the final product.
The grape processing and aging rooms are gathered in environments with the right balance between tradition and modernity.
The female hand does not go unnoticed in the care and search of details that become real didactic tools useful to the visitor.
The tasting room, equipped with a modern kitchen, could be defined as immersive: the large windows offer views over the hills and villages of the Langa.

The Cru Serracapelli
The winery is located in an area particularly favorable to the production of Barbaresco DOCG
The visitor’s experience begins even before reaching the estate, along the roads that climb the hill.
You’ll be crossing small hamlets that give their name to specific crus, small areas, not far from each other, but able to offer different wines.
The Barbaresco DOCG
Produced with 100% Nebbiolo grapes, it is a DOCG wine, whose production is allowed in the territory of the municipalities of Barbaresco, Neive, Treiso and in the hamlet of San Rocco, aggregated to the municipality of Alba.
The cru where Cecilia works is called Serracapelli: a patch of land rich in natural biodiversity.
It is a small corner of the territory dear to Paolo Monte, Cecilia’s father, who has always identified this area as particularly suited to the production of Barbaresco DOCG.
It is from a small parcel, located between these vineyards, that the Barbaresco dedicated to him is produced.
The cru Serracapelli

Cecilia Monte’s Barbaresco is an example of quality full-bodied red wines from Piedmont. Matured in barriques for 12 months, it presents fruity, spicy and ethereal scents
You can enjoy the view of this small town directly from the tasting room
Cecilia Monte proposes three tasting experiences: classic, picnic among the vines and lunch or dinner at the winery
