Church of San Bernardo

The Church of San Bernardo is a small chapel built in the 18th century, simple and intimate, yet capable of telling a story made of different eras and transformations. Its uniqueness lies precisely in the irregularity of its elements, which coexist to create an ensemble with timeless charm.

Upon closer inspection, the church reveals details that refer to different periods: decorations inspired by 15th-century art sit alongside elements resulting from 19th-century modifications. It is a place to be discovered slowly, to catch in its details the traces of the various phases that have characterized its history.

Interiors

The chapel features a single nave with an apse, divided into two bays covered by sail vaults. In the apse is a basin decorated with motifs referring to 15th-century art; the style could be the result of an antiquarian revival from the late 16th century or a late 19th-century reconstruction.

Exteriors

The facade is linear yet elegant, decorated with vertical pilasters that support a central tympanum. The facade and the tall arched windows are the result of 19th-century modifications, while the entrance portal with an ogival arch is the result of a later intervention.
