Wandering in Langa

Albaretto della Torre a village to experience with all your senses

May 21, 2026

Albaretto della Torre is a small village in Alta Langa that is being discovered thanks to a series of projects, initiatives, and activities for tourists and locals alike.

Here the landscape is made of ridges, woods, hazelnut groves, roads that wind up and down, trails, incredible views, and silence, capable of surprising those looking for something authentic, more intimate, and closer to the real life of the local villages.

Albaretto has become one of the symbolic places of an Alta Langa that refuses to stand still.

The village preserves its rural soul, its medieval tower, its small churches, and its panoramas, but in recent years it has been creating new opportunities to make itself known and experienced: experiential paths, exhibitions, cultural activities, and offerings linked to the landscape and local products.

Cod in SensoVia: when a walk becomes a story

Among the most curious and successful projects is certainly Merluzzo in SensoVia, the new sensory path that we designed and created, promoted by the municipality of Albaretto.

The name, at first glance, is puzzling. Cod? In Alta Langa? Far from the sea? That’s exactly where the beauty lies.

The reference comes from the history of the Salt Road, the ancient link between Piedmont and Liguria along which merchants, travelers, anchovy sellers, and traders of products like cod and stockfish used to pass.

A story of exchanges, encounters, and flavors that today comes back to life in a new form, designed for contemporary tourism. The path is about 4 kilometers long, suitable for everyone, including children, and divided into five stages, each dedicated to one of the five senses.

You walk, observe, listen, smell, touch, and taste. But above all, you connect with the territory in a simple, fun, and accessible way.

The sight stage invites you to observe the village and the surrounding ecosystem from a panoramic viewpoint. The hearing stage passes by the early 20th-century washhouse and the sounds of nature.

The sense of smell takes you into the oak woods, where the story of the Alba White Truffle and mushrooms unfolds. Touch meets the hazelnut groves and the Piedmont Hazelnut PGI.

Finally, taste reaches rural life, with a journey into the world of bees, honey, and local flavors.

Local tourism, done right

Merluzzo in SensoVia perfectly captures a growing trend: the desire for nearby experiences that are sustainable and logistically light, yet rich from a human perspective.

You don’t always need to go far to feel like you’re elsewhere. Sometimes it’s enough to change your pace, choose a village off the beaten path, and discover a story you didn’t know.

The Albaretto path works precisely because it doesn’t pretend to be something with special effects. It’s a family-friendly experience, perfect for groups of friends, couples, or curious visitors.

You can experience it freely, following your own pace, or through the proposals by LoveLanghe and SensoVia, including picnics, tastings, brunches, aperitifs, and personalized boxes with short-supply chain products.

In this sense, Albaretto is building an offering that doesn’t just say “come and see the village,” but creates concrete reasons to stop, walk, eat, listen to stories, and encounter places and people.

And here another fundamental element comes into play: the community. Because a project of this type only makes sense if the local area feels it is their own.

The tower: the symbol that looks far ahead

If there is one image that identifies Albaretto, it is its tower.

The climb is already part of the experience: first, an external spiral staircase takes you halfway up the tower, then the path continues inside and concludes with a small ladder leading to the panoramic terrace.

Once at the top, the view opens up over the Alta Langa and the surrounding hills. It is one of those places that help you better understand the geography of the area.

However, the tower is not just a monument to visit; in recent years it has also become an experiential space: it hosts art exhibitions and sensory paths inside, transforming a historical site into a living vessel capable of uniting memory, culture, and tourism.

The Tower of Albaretto della Torre

This is precisely the most interesting direction: the tower is not treated as a static symbol just to be photographed, but as a place to inhabit temporarily.

Aperitifs, tours, and small events with a view

The tower also lends itself to more intimate, unique, and personalized activities. Among the offerings linked to the site are guided tours, panoramic aperitifs, tastings, and small yet precious moments of intimate and exclusive sharing.

At a time when many tourist destinations seem to focus on quantity, here a different game is being played: one of small things that become extraordinary, curated, and memorable.

A panoramic aperitif, a tasting with a view, a sunset visit, or a small cultural moment can become opportunities to experience the village in a more personal way.

The Church of the Immacolata: a small space that gives a voice to art and more

Another important piece of Albaretto’s dynamism is the Church of the Immacolata Concezione.

Today it is no longer used as a place of worship but has become one of the village’s cultural spaces. Its intimate atmosphere makes it perfect for art exhibitions, events, and initiatives.

It is a place that lends itself to changing its appearance and atmosphere according to what happens inside, suitable for creating closeness between works, artists, and the public.

In a context like Alta Langa, where contemporary art and culture often find a home in unconventional spaces, the Church of the Immacolata becomes a concrete example of intelligent reuse.

In recent months, it has hosted and continues to host various initiatives. Among these, the exhibition Emotions Generate Memories, with works by Renato Cane, aka Caren, and Shades of the Soul with works by Giulia Porello, available until June 2nd.

Albaretto as a model of a living village

There’s no need to lose your essence. There’s no need to chase tourism models far from your own identity. Instead, you need to recognize what you have, which in this case is quite a lot!

A medieval tower, a breathtaking view, a fascinating history linked to the Salt Road, traditions, local products, spaces that become multi-functional, artists, trails, and an active community.

Albaretto is working on exactly this. It is transforming its most authentic elements into accessible and memorable experiences. The result is a village that tries to tell its story every day.

Merluzzo in SensoVia leads families and visitors to walk with a fresh perspective, and in a territory like Alta Langa, where tourism still has great room for growth and where authenticity is a real resource, Albaretto della Torre strives to be a virtuous, small, dynamic, and concrete example.
