February and March

In the central Piazza Rossetti of Alba, next to the San Lorenzo Cathedral and inside an 18th-century building, is the Albamare restaurant. Here, the flavors of Piedmontese tradition intertwine with the intense and fragrant ones of the Amalfi Coast where fish is the star.

Every preparation stems from a careful selection of raw materials, with the aim of putting taste at the center of the culinary experience. The same care is also reserved for those with specific dietary needs, with options designed for celiacs, vegetarians, and vegans.

Albamare also offers a carefully selected range of pizzas: a targeted selection, but not excessive, also served at lunch, to offer guests a tasty alternative that always meets expectations.

Flavors of northern and southern Italy meet

The name Albamare is a play on words: it is the image of the sea reaching Alba, where two seemingly distant realities come together. A tribute to the land of origin and northern Italy, chosen as a land of life and work.

The roots of the Lepre family are in Scala, the oldest village of the Amalfi Coast. In this place, the Lepre family learned to cultivate the art of hospitality and cooking, turning tradition into a way of life.

In the Langhe, the family found a second home, where tradition and passion continue to grow and renew.

From this meeting of places and cultures, a dream was born: to bring to the table the best of two unique territories, creating an experience that feels like home and travel.

The Kitchen

Seasonality is at the heart of the offer: the menu follows natural rhythms and highlights the products of Piedmont and Campania.

Customer feedback is clear: Albamare is synonymous with excellent quality ingredients, authentic hospitality, and impeccable service.

In the kitchen, Valerio Lepre works alongside family members and a close-knit staff, with whom he shares ongoing discussions that give rise to new dishes.

Every proposal is created with the intent to always put taste at the center of the experience, without excesses and without frills.

At Albamare, you come to celebrate a special occasion, a dinner with friends, a pizza with company, or simply to savor a dish, always finding the elegance of a restaurant combined with the conviviality typical of an informal place.

Recommended dishes

In addition to à la carte dishes, you can choose between two menus: Albamare, based on fish, and Territory linked to Piedmont.

Among the most appreciated proposals are the flambéed squid, served with milk potato foam and lime-scented cuttlefish ink, a refined appetizer that plays on delicate textures and taste contrasts, and the lemon risotto with cooked and raw shrimp, a dish that combines the freshness of citrus with the sweetness of the sea.

The great classics of Piedmontese tradition are not missing, such as Plin: small ravioli sealed with the typical pinch, made with a dough rich in egg yolks, ensuring perfect cooking. They are served simply with oil and Parmesan, to maximize the authentic taste of the filling.

Bread, focaccia, cakes, and tarts are prepared daily in-house.

A modern, material, and authentic design

The restaurant features modern architectural lines, dominated by a refined materiality.

Valerio’s passion for raw materials takes shape in an environment where the material is seen and felt: brass, ceramics, iron, and brick coexist in balance, creating an authentic and contemporary atmosphere.

The indoor spaces can accommodate up to 45 people, while the outdoor area in the courtyard offers 30 seats.

The Rooms

The Albergo San Lorenzo is located above the restaurant and is accessible by elevator

The Lepre family also manages the Albergo San Lorenzo, an 18th-century residence that still retains the warmth and charm of a private home.

It’s a place where you can feel welcomed like friends, sip a good glass of wine by the fireplace, and enjoy breakfast in the large frescoed room, rich in history and atmosphere.

The central location allows you to discover the city’s attractions and fully experience them, especially in the autumn months when the city comes alive for the International White Truffle Fair.

The services

Each room is equipped with a flat-screen TV, a private bathroom with a hairdryer and complimentary toiletries. Daily cleaning ensures tidy and comfortable spaces.

The reception is open daily from 7:30 AM to 8:00 PM. A small buffet is available 24/7 with herbal teas, tea, fresh fruit, water, and cookies.

Breakfast, served upon request even in the room, offers homemade delicacies and a wide selection of sweet and savory flavors, designed to satisfy every palate.

For those who love to explore independently, books and brochures with many ideas and itineraries are available. Those who prefer to be guided can rely on recommendations: from the restaurant to a winery tour, to the thrill of a truffle hunting experience in the woods at the search for truffles.

Small four-legged friends are welcome free of charge. Groups also find advantageous conditions.

There are also practical services that make a difference: free Wi-Fi, luggage storage, photocopier, scanner, and assistance for transfers to and from the airport.

Products

Genuine and seasonal ingredients, carefully cultivated and enhanced by an exclusive selection of local specialties

To ensure continuity and consistent quality, many products come directly from the proprietary garden, tended by Valerio. This allows for the most regular supply possible of some earth products, ensuring freshness and genuineness.

This choice is complemented by a solid relationship with local producers, thus enhancing the seasonality and sustainability of the ingredients used in the kitchen.

The specialty shop

At the entrance of the restaurant, there is a small shop dedicated to selling selected typical products.

A curated display that combines gastronomic specialties and artisan objects, an authentic expression of the territories from which they come.

Among the products for sale:

  • Mongetto jars, processed according to seasonality and traditional methods
  • Muraglia extra virgin olive oil, in elegant reusable bottles
  • Langa amaro, gin, and rum with white truffle
  • Limoncello, lemon and melon creams
  • Artisanal spreadable creams
  • Chocolate, quality dry pasta, selected wines
  • A selection of painted plates and ceramics, inspired by the tradition of the Amalfi Coast

A territory to explore all year round

The Langhe and Alba offer emotions in every season, among enchanting villages, medieval castles, and hills dotted with vineyards. Alba, lively all year round, offers a historic center rich in charm with medieval towers. In spring, it hosts Vinum, the showcase of great local wines, while in autumn it becomes the heart of the International White Truffle Fair. Nearby, just a few minutes by car, you can discover gems like Barolo, with the Falletti Castle and the Wine Museum, and La Morra, famous for its breathtaking view and giant benches. Neive enchants with its stone alleys, Grinzane Cavour with the castle where the world truffle auction takes place, Serralunga with the imposing fortress, and Monforte d'Alba, ideal for a musical stop in its open-air auditorium. The itinerary is completed by Castiglione Falletto, a small jewel surrounded by the Barolo vineyards, and Cherasco, an elegant baroque town, famous for markets and chocolate.

Pairings

Flavors of the north and south, selected wines, and tasting journeys

Valerio describes his cuisine as a meeting of the authentic flavors of the southern Italian tradition with which he grew up and those discovered upon his arrival in Piedmont.

Everything stems from his great passion for cooking, cultivated since childhood and enriched over time through various experiences in restaurants and culinary realities.

In addition to curating the gastronomic offer, Valerio personally guides guests in the selection of wines and pairings, creating tailor-made tasting journeys.

The art of pairing, between dish and glass

Great attention is dedicated to the wine list, which includes about 400 labels, with a strong focus on local wines. However, national and international selections are not lacking.

A distinctive feature is the possibility to taste each label by the glass, allowing guests to build a personalized tasting journey, ranging from important reds to fresh whites, to sparkling wines.

A choice that favors sharing and conviviality, especially in larger groups.

Guided tastings

Valerio, a passionate and knowledgeable AIS sommelier, organizes personalized wine tastings designed to respond to the curiosities and interests of each guest. From classic to more in-depth journeys, he accompanies participants on a sensory and cultural journey to discover wine and its territory. With a clear and engaging style, he explains how soil, climate, and cultivation techniques influence the character of each wine, also delving into the main winemaking methods. Each tasting is agreed upon in advance to suit the group's needs. Prices vary based on the type of journey chosen. An authentic experience for those who wish to discover wine in all its nuances.
