Fratelli Pavia is a family-run wine company located in Agliano Terme. Michele and Cesare, owners of the winery, today represent the third generation of wine makers in the family.
Almost all the vineyards are found in the Unesco Red Zone, in an area known as the golden triangle of the Barbera d’Asti.
Over the years they’ve continued the work which began at the end of the 1800s by their great-grandfather, by expanding the area planted through the acquisition of land chosen for its perfect exposure.
Their wines are perfect representatives of this territory. The Barbera d’Asti DOCG is the flagship of the production represented by the Collina del Prete and San Bernardino versions of this wine.
Visits to the Winery
The Winery is easily accessible, situated in a panoramic position on the road from Agliano to Mombercelli.
The owners greet in person, both small groups and large groups of up to 80 people.
A briefing on the company’s history and particulars relating to the territory introduce the visit. The visit begins with a walk amongst the rows of vines in the Mason vineyard, from which the grapes are used to make Barbera d’Asti.
Past and present are united by the continuity of tradition, respect for the land and the grapevines is guaranteed by guided pest control, without using any systemic and/or anti-mold products. The harvest is carried out manually.
The underground Cellar is the authentic place of production and one can frequently see the work being carried out. Here, the wine-making process is illustrated among ancient oak barrels, casks and stainless steel tanks. And finally we come to the barrel room, where the barriques barrels welcome the wines to be aged.
The tastings table is set among the barrels which allows you to fully experience the company. Seasonal tastings can be held on the terrace.
All the production’s wines are presented. You can choose to accompany the wines with typical local products: cold cuts, cheeses, bread or you can opt for a lunch in the cellar.

Visits to the winery
You can choose between two types of tastings to be specified in the form:
- Welcome Tasting: € 7,00/person – duration 1 h – all the wines are accompanied by local typical products: cooked and raw cold cuts, breadsticks, bread and a selection of cheeses, (tome, robiole, parmigiano)
- You can book, for a minimum of 50 people up to a maximum of 80, with at least one month’s notice, Lunch or Dinner in the Cellar: € 30,00/person – duration 3 h. All wines are accompanied by two steps for each course of typical Piedmont dishes: raw meat, peppers with bagna cauda, flan, ravioli, tagliatelle, braised meat, boiled meat, cheese, desserts. To offer an authentic experience, the proposals on the menu are only a guideline. The dishes follow the seasonality of raw materials and availability of products. You can book gluten-free products for a tasting that is suitable for people affected by celiac disease. The dishes are prepared by chef Domenico Massucco from Magliano Alfieri.
