Although blueberries normally prefer low temperatures and particularly acidic soils, they have found a home in a village in the Vercelli area whose characteristics respond incredibly well to their cultivation.
In fact, in Moncrivello (VC), they have become the landmark product of the area and are extraordinarily good!
Protagonists, from Thursday, June 13 to Sunday, June 16, of the “Blueberry and Moncrivellese Excellence Festival,” the 10th edition of a long-running event held in the town between the provinces of Turin and Vercelli.
They can be found in different versions for tastings and themed dinners throughout thepedestrian area of the town, which will host a very rich, varied and “colorful” program, with the centerpiece of the tastings in Castle Square, elected “Taste Square” for the occasion.
Overview of the days
The review opens on Thursday, June 13. 6:30 p.m. with the 3rd Edition of the “Blueberry Run,” a race of preeminent national interest UISP of about 7 km.

Friday, June 14 at 6 pm. at Moncrivello Castle. there will be a conference with the awarding of the “MIRTILLO D’ORO”to Stefano Corgnati, Rector of the Polytechnic University of Turin.

The environment will also be discussed, with the “Garden of Bees” project,and afterwards there will be refreshments in the City Hall Park for event participants.
A dish by star chef Mariangela Susigan of the Gardenia in Caluso will be served.
Every day from 8 p.m. there will be a “Blueberry Dinner” and Friday evening. From 10.30 pm musical performance with Divina Show. Monsignor John Oglietti Square.
Among the most important events on Saturday, June 15,. 9:30 a.m. “on the road to inclusion.” of the Rotary Club of Sant’Andrea Vercelli Santhià Crescentino – DEI Committee – Rotary District 2031 and at 11 a.m. Vermouth of Honor for the inauguration of the Bee Garden .
At 3:30 p.m. at the Church of San Francesco, presentation of the book “Alta Langa” illustrated by Gabriele Pino for Slow Food Editore.
Gabriele will dialogue with Monica Arena, Art storyteller, on representing territories through drawing and writing. At 8 p.m. “Blueberry Dinner” followed by a DJ set and the evening show “Love Generation 90” in Bishop John Oglietti Square.
Sunday, June 16 at 9 a.m. Opening of the Blueberry Market with local products, crafts and associations followed by Yotes class. (Yoga and Pilates).
Meanwhile, at 9:30 a.m., “Lavender Experience,” an experiential seminar at the Mirbì company since 1990 at which “Bees Gourmet” will also take place at 11:30 a.m. and at 5:30 p.m. “Blueberry Experience and Bee Garden Tour.”
A bar area in the center of the Blueberry Market, Street food and Andumachef, will be available throughout Saturday and Sunday. the “Solidarity Blueberry Fishing” organized by theSalesian Union of Moncrivello (proceeds will be donated to the Salesian “Distance Support” project in Congo).
There will also be traveling workshops for young and old by Gabriele Pino and art workshops in painting and creativity designed led by artist Lidia Acquaviva.
On Sunday there will be guided tours of Moncrivello’s blueberry orchards. and Street Bands that will play through the streets of the historic town center.
Origins and cultural reasons
The goal of the Blueberry and Moncrivellese Excellence Festival. is torestore value to food, with respect for those who produce it, in harmony with the environment and ecosystems, thanks to the knowledge of which local territories and traditions are the custodians.
The event exists and is incredibly successful every year thanks in part to the passion and commitment that Mayor Massimo Pissinis and Vice Mayor Luca Lisco have invested in the project since its inception.
In addition to all the events that will allow a direct meeting between the consumer and the producer, there will be guided tasting tours, exhibition spaces set up for the occasion on the places of natural interest in and around Moncrivello.
Education in nurseries and at blueberry farms, workshops to discover all the virtues and properties of the fruit in cooking and its transformation into tasty dishes, and areas set up for performances.
