Arriving at the entrance to Castiglione Falletto from Monforte d’Alba, just before entering the village at the bottom on the right we find the sign of the restaurant, with this curious word in Piedmontese: Argaj.
Argaj is your satisfaction after eating a good dish, and it is our satisfaction in seeing you satiated and content.
The sign represents just this feeling of happiness one has after eating a healthy, wholesome meal: a smiling mouth with two full cheeks!
Andrea and Valentina used to run “La locanda del centro,” also in the village, but then felt the need for a place of their own that would allow them to express their ideas about cuisine, recipes, territory and hospitality.
Andrea is in charge of the kitchen, is the son of restaurateurs and trained alongside the great Enrico Crippa. Today in his restaurant he wants to experiment starting from the solid Langarola tradition.
Valentina is in charge of the dining room; after meeting Andrea at Piola in Alba, she decided to embark with him on the adventure of having their own restaurant, created and furnished according to their tastes.
The menu varies according to the season and availability of products, and ingredients are chosen with great care
Chef Andrea strives for a great quality of raw material in order to offer Argaj guests healthy, wholesome and tasty dishes.
After gaining experience over the years, Chef Andrea now offers traditional dishes prepared with great attention to health. Its intent is to delight the palate and satiate the appetite, leaving a pleasant feeling of lightness at the end of the meal.
There is no shortage of unique and modern dishes dedicated to those who know the Langhe well, born of a rediscovery of almost forgotten ingredients and products, such as Zizzona or Coniglio Grigio di Carmagnola.
Argaj’s wine cellar provides you with an extensive wine list, local and otherwise.
Pairings will be suggested to you by the wait staff, led by Valentina, and you can sip individual glasses or choose to uncork prestigious bottles.

Even the extravagant wall drawings have a specific meaning: they are a stylized reproduction of the plots of land on the hillside of Castiglione Falletto. Looking closely at them, one can see the fields, vineyards and woods surrounding the restaurant.
In fine weather, some tables are placed outside on the rooftop terrace overlooking the Langhe. For special occasions, parties, groups, or for those seeking a more secluded space, there is the option of dining in the restaurant’s wine cellar among the many bottles of wine waiting silently to be uncorked.
