The Castle of Cisterna opens the doors of its Museum of Arts and Crafts of Yesteryear for an extraordinary event on the occasion of the eight-hundredth anniversary of the death of Saint Francesco of Assisi.

The historic workshops of the museum will become the stage for a suggestive leap through time and space with the Ioculator Domini event.

Inside them, the characters of the past will come to life thanks to the actors, who will narrate fragments of the Saint’s life through texts created by them and freely drawn from the thought and history of Francesco.

A journey in which the theater will retrace the history and thought of the Poverello of Assisi, guardians of a universality capable of overcoming every border, beyond time and space.

How to participate

The visit lasts about 45 minutes

It is necessary to book, choosing a visit time from the following:
3:00 PM, 3:20 PM, 3:40 PM, 4:00 PM, 4:20 PM, 4:40 PM, 5:00 PM, 5:20 PM, 5:40 PM, 6:00 PM.

The shifts have a limit of 25 people, after which they will no longer be bookable.

We suggest arriving at the Castle at least 10 minutes before the start of your turn.

Museo Arti e Mestieri di un Tempo

Il museo di Cisterna, fondato nel 1980 da un gruppo di volontari, nel corso di questi decenni è diventato il museo etnografico più importante del Piemonte. All’interno delle 23 stanze distribuite sui tre piani del castello sono illustrate 25 botteghe, attraverso gli oggetti e gli arredi che venivano utilizzati nel passato. Gli attrezzi sono stati raccolti, restaurati e sistemati dai volontari nelle stanze del castello. Un punto di forza del progetto museale è rappresentato dal collegamento con le realtà che, nel territorio del Roero e dell’Astigiano, operano nel settore culturale. Sono nati, così i progetti della Rete Museale Roero Monferrato e la collaborazione a quelli dell’Ecomuseo delle Rocche del Roero e del Polo Cittattiva per l’Astigiano e l’Albese.
