The Poderi Gianni Gagliardo has its roots in the history of a traditional rural family that has always cultivated vineyards in areas with a high vocation in Piedmont.
In fact, since 1847 the Colla family, generation upon generation, moved from Santo Stefano Belbo, an ideal area for Moscato grapes, to Diano d’Alba, which has always been renowned for Dolcetto grapes, and finally to La Morra, in the Barolo area.
It was Paolo Colla who crowned his dream of producing Barolo, by purchasing a small farmhouse with a vineyard, and started making wine with the care and attention that only passion and respect for the land can give.
Today there are 10 plots dedicated to Barolo – divided in 5 municipalities – which fall within the Lazzarito Geographical Indications (with official recognition of the Vigna “Preve” toponym), Castelletto, Monvigliero, Mosconi, Fossati, Bricco San Pietro, Santa Maria, and the original Serra dei Turchi, where it all began.

The Wines
The company produces 16 wines, including 11 red and 2 white.
However, one of these deserves a particular mention, the Langhe Favorita “Fallegro“, which reached its 46th grape harvest in 2019.
Among the 14 reds, 11 are made with Nebbiolo grapes, a variety which, in addition to being the most noble of our territory, is also definitely the Gagliardo family’s choice variety.
The family, now made up of the forefather Gianni, and three children Stefano, Alberto and Paolo, is at the centre of the project.
The artisanal approach, with the utmost care for the environment, sustainability in general and great attention to detail in every single phase, is a fundamental pillar of the current production process.
In order to operate in this way, the number of bottles is necessarily limited.

Visits & Tastings
The wine cellar was developed underground, right under the original farmhouse.
In this way, optimal technical features are guaranteed, including taking advantage of gravity and constant temperatures with low energy consumption. Furthermore, its underground development respects the precious landscape of the Langhe vineyards, which have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2014.
The concept of excellence that characterizes the company also includes welcoming guests and providing services to those who decide to visit Poderi Gianni Gagliardo and discover its wines.
This aspect is personally taken care of by the youngest son, Paolo, who is always present in the company to best welcome curious and attentive visitors.
There are 7 types of experiences that can be booked, varying in focus and tasting sessions, yet they all start with a visit in the winery which is structured in the aging rooms and where guests are told the family’s history and philosophy.
You’ll be introduced to the Barolo area from the panoramic terrace with an explanation of the features that make it unique in the world.
