Educational Farm

The philosophy of Monia Gabutti, owner of the educational farm is simple, but not at all trivial, and stems from a question:
how is it possible, in a land of farmhouses and countryside, that it’s easier for a child to see a zebra or a lion than to interact with a chicken or a piglet roaming free in a farmyard?
Cascina Gabutti is just that: a home open to children and to all those who wish to spend a few hours immersed in one of the most renowned areas of the Langhe, among the vineyards from which Barolo is born, in contact with domestic animals, the countryside and agri-food products.
Monia doesn’t consider the farm exclusively a job, but a lifestyle, a journey during which she is accompanied by her husband Valter, an expert in the agricultural world, and by all the animals that inhabit the farm: Zac the dog, the sweet donkeys, the piglets, and then ducks, geese, guinea fowl, rabbits, chickens, turkeys, budgies, and a family of peacocks.
Certifications
Cascina Gabutti is also a Campagna Amica Point, which guarantees the sale of strictly agricultural and Italian products, and is part of the Educational Farms of the Piedmont Region project.
It is also SQNPI certified, a ministerial quality mark for Sustainable Quality, and is therefore able to ensure the cultivation of products, in this case grapes, according to agronomic techniques that respect the environment and human health.
The farm also offers the possibility to organize educational activities and programs for schools, tailored according to the age of the students and the objectives of the field trip.

Gabutti educational farm: Wineries Open Their Doors for Easter
The farm, also a Campagna Amica Point, offers activities for adults and children to rediscover the rural world and sensory experiences dedicated to the typical wines of Langhe.
Discover the event
Watching him stroll freely around the farm is a special moment, offering a chance to get closer to nature and discover the beauty and variety of the animals living in this rural setting
Valter takes care of the farm work himself. The grape harvest is carried out manually, as is traditional
With its calm and curious nature, it immediately wins the hearts of both adults and children
The Wines
Vine breeding is Cascina Gabutti's first occupation
The 16 hectares of the farm are mainly dedicated to vine cultivation, alongside a smaller fruit and vegetable production.
Monia and Valter are winegrowers and do not process the grapes on the farm: they work among the rows and are committed to caring for each individual vine, never making the mistake of considering the vineyard as a single entity.
Theirs is an occupation in constant evolution and always changing, despite the activities repeating from season to season.
The wines obtained from the cultivated grapes can be discovered during the visit: Barolo DOCG, Barbera d’Alba DOC, Langhe DOC Chardonnay, Langhe DOC Nebbiolo.

Products
With the grapes produced, Cascina Gabutti creates fragrant natural soaps
Cascina Gabutti products are healthy, wholesome and a little different from what is generally found on local farms. A curious choice worth discovering.
Natural soaps
Rapùi ‘d Nébio made from Nebbiolo grapes
A gentle and 100% natural soap suitable for all skin types. Made from theoil and flour of grape seeds-a soap bar with the scent of fresh grapes and red fruits.
Lesme made from hazelnuts and lavender
Hazelnuts, combined with lavender, create a true gift for the skin. Emollient because of the hazelnut oil, soothing because of the lavender essential oil.

Each experience is an opportunity to observe, learn, and discover the rural world: from the life cycle of animals to the fruits of the earth, to knowledge of the territory and its products.
The activities are designed to combine curiosity, discovery, and sharing, offering children educational experiences and adults a concrete way to deepen the connection between agriculture, landscape, and local culture.
The tasting
Guests gather at the farmhouse to share a precious moment: wine tasting for adults, while children are served a non-alcoholic beverage.
The beverages are always accompanied by bread, breadsticks, and a tasting of cheeses, cured meats, and hazelnuts.
The wines for tasting:
- Barolo DOCG
- Chardonnay DOCG
- Barbera d’Alba DOC
- Nebbiolo DOCG
March → early June
From egg to chick
An activity designed to allow children to observe the egg hatching process up close and discover the life cycle of animals through a direct and engaging experience.
It’s also an opportunity to explore with parents the characteristics of the egg: its structure, nutritional properties, and various uses in daily life, clarifying some common urban legends related to this food.
August and September
Educational hazelnut harvest
The hazelnut grove of Albaretto della Torre reveals a different side of the Langhe compared to the vineyard: more intimate, quiet, and secluded. A place to experience close contact with the land.
It’s a space that invites you to slow down, observe, and let yourself be guided by the rhythms of nature. The presence of rich biodiversity allows you to immerse yourself in the scents and landscapes of the territory.
The guided tour winds through hazelnut trees, woods, and small streams, culminating in the hazelnut harvest.
The experience concludes at the farm’s house with a tasting. The activity is designed for visitors and groups and is not intended for schools.
Route through the vineyards
The vineyard tour allows you to discover the different growth stages of the vine and the work that accompanies them, while also offering a broader view of the territory the farm is part of.
Weather permitting, the visit continues among the rows, discovering sustainable viticulture that respects the landscape.
At certain times of the year, those seeking an authentic experience can also witness the usual work among the rows.
