Holidays

Today, as it was at the very beginning, the search for quality characterizes the wines from the Cantina Giacomo Vico in Canale, a prominent figure from the Roero wine-making area.

You’ll find details in the company that may appear not to belong to the wine industry, yet they can tell us some of the family’s past.

The Eagle, a historical aviation symbol that has become the Winery’s logo and classic Italian cars of the early 20th century are rarely to be seen in a Winery like this.

Nothing you see in the company is there by chance. It will be the owner Corrado Vico, who will to tell you its story.

Since February 2020, the company has been listed in the Register of Historical Enterprises of Italy recognized by Unioncamere and the Italian Chambers of Commerce.

The purpose of the Register is to reward companies that have been operating in the same product sector for at least 100 years.

Giacomo Vico: Wineries Open Their Doors for Vinum

Giacomo Vico

A story that
begins in 1850

in Canale

A history almost two centuries long

The winery's origins date back to 1850. Labels and archival documents testify to commercial success, as early as the early twentieth century, in France and Argentina.

The awards obtained are worldwide: among them the Gold Medal at the 1909 Paris Food Exposition.

The passion for cars of Dario Vico, Giacomo's son, marked a halt in production. In 1952 the winery closed and Dario devoted himself exclusively to the automotive world.

Since 1990 with the renovation of the historic premises and the modernization of the equipment, the winery regained its past at the behest of Anita Fergola and her three children.

The Wines

Our vineyards are located in some of the most beautiful and productive areas of Roero

Wines worth the trip include: the Roero DOCG Riserva Giacomo, the most personal interpretation of a grape variety and its terroir, and the Nebbiolo d’Alba DOC Valmaggiore, lightly spiced with hints of licorice and chocolate.

The winery offers guests the opportunity to purchase a selection of our wines detailed in the prices and services section.

Our production

Under the care of winemaker Gianfranco Cordero, all the house wines including Arneis, Favorita and Birbét are evolved here.

In the aging room, great red wines rest in oak barrels and casks: Roero, Barbera and Nebbiolo.
