Located at via Piumati 15 in Bra and managed by Simona Turello, Enoteca Tenuta Montefantino is a true taste reference.

On the shelves of the sales point, you can choose wines and typical specialties from the area and all of Piedmont, flanked by food and wine excellence from outside the region and international, such as fine spirits (whiskey, vodka, gin, aquavit).

All the products offered are selected by Simona who, with her knowledge and experience, guides each customer in the ideal choice, ensuring a personalized shopping experience.

Simona, in fact, recommends the best food and wine pairings, based on concordance, contrast, or more simply by tradition, pairing wines and dishes from the same territory.

The shop also offers the possibility to customize the labels of some selected bottles, making them unique and perfect to give as gifts on special occasions.

How the wine shop was born

Tenuta Montefantino is the winery of the same name, a family-run business based in Clavesana, where brothers Andrea and Mauro Ghigliano, Simona’s husband, produce the most representative DOC and DOCG wines of the Piedmontese tradition.

The owners’ desire to distribute their wines outside the winery as well led to the birth of the wine shop, a little gem full of delicious treats.

A story that
begins in 1950

in Bra

From its earliest days, the Ghigliano family devoted itself passionately to viticulture

The first documented traces of the Ghigliano family date back to the second half of the 16th century, when they settled in Montefantino.

In 1790, the locality was renamed Ghigliani hamlet, as confirmed by a plaque found in the old winery, now renovated.

In the mid-19th century, the family also undertook a shoemaking business, which continued until the beginning of World War I, without ever abandoning wine production.

The post-World War II period marked a turning point for the family.

In the 1950s, the company recognized the potential of Piedmontese wines and began producing them in small quantities, gradually expanding production. This growth led to the birth of Tenuta Montefantino Winery, today a symbol of wine excellence.

The first sales point was opened in Bra in 2005, followed by one in Turin in 2009 and, finally, a third in Carignano in 2012.

Brothers Mauro and Andrea Ghigliano represent the third generation of growers.

In 2020, the new winery was inaugurated, a place of continuous experimentation through the use of different winemaking techniques and materials.

The wines at Montefantino Estate

Tenuta Montefantino wines, authentic expressions of the Langhe, are the result of a constant commitment to enhancing the territory’s grape varieties.

Among the classic reds, Dogliani DOCG, three types of Barbera, and Langhe DOC Dolcetto stand out. Among the finest wines, Barolo DOCG and Barbaresco DOCG are not to be missed.

Among the most appreciated and recommended whites, Piedmont Chardonnay DOC and Alta Langa DOCG deserve a mention.

The products of Piedmont Hazelnut I.G.P. Tenuta Montefantino

The Montefantino experience is also found in the production and processing of Piedmont Hazelnut I.G.P., from which roasted shelled hazelnuts, spreadable cream, flour, and hazelnut cake are obtained.

The choice of bag-in-box

In addition to bottles, it is possible to choose, for Montefantino wines, the more practical, economical, and ecological bag-in-box: packaging that includes a flexible and sturdy plastic container. In addition to being more easily transportable, the wine keeps longer without oxidizing.

The Clavesana winery

Passing through the winery you can taste Tenuta Montefantino wines and meet the producers

Being a family-run business, Simona, Andrea, or Mauro take care of welcoming guests at the company headquarters in Clavesana, in the Ghigliani 18 hamlet.

We like to define our winery as “a wine workshop,” where we facilitate the natural fermentation processes of the grapes with study, experience, and great respect for the working material.

Spending time at the winery allows you to learn about the wine world and the company’s philosophy, which is realized in tradition and sustainability.

Here values related to the environment are shared, advice is received, and you learn to appreciate wines, building a relationship of trust with the producer.

In addition, the charm of the winemaking premises also offers strong evocative power: the historic farmhouse still preserves the vaulted ceiling and exposed bricks. Here, oak vats alternate with barriques and the most modern autoclaves for sparkling wine production, ensuring a cutting-edge approach.

Upon request, it is possible to walk among the rows of Dolcetto, Sauvignon, Nebbiolo, and Chardonnay and discover how the owners take care of the vines, trying to reduce the use of chemical products.

The winery tasting

By reservation, it is possible to taste the most iconic wines of the production, accompanied by typical platters, hazelnuts, and other Montefantino-branded products, including the spreadable cream and the cake. The winery offers two different experiences: "Tenuta Classic" (€30.00 per person), which includes 4 tastings, and "Tenuta Senior" (€50.00 per person), which includes five types of wine, including Alta Langa.
