Located at 15 Via Piumati in Bra and managed by Simona Turello, Enoteca Tenuta Montefantino is a true benchmark of taste.

On the store’s shelves it is possible to choose wines and specialties typical of the area and of all of Piedmont, flanked by food and wine excellences from outside the region and international ones such as fine spirits (whiskey, vodka, gin, aquavit).

All the products offered are selected by Simona who, with her knowledge and experience, accompanies each customer in making the ideal choice, ensuring a personalized buying experience.

Simona, in fact, recommends the best food and wine pairings, based on concordance, contrast or more simply by tradition, matching wines and dishes from the same territory.

The store also offers the possibility of customizing the labels of selected bottles, so as to make them unique and perfect to give as gifts on special occasions.

How the wine shop was born

Tenuta Montefantino is the family-owned winery of the same name based in Clavesana, where brothers Andrea and Mauro Ghigliano, Simona’s husband, Simona, produce the most representative DOC and DOCG wines of Piedmontese tradition.

The owners’ desire to distribute their wines outside the winery also led to the birth of the wine shop, a little gem full of mouthwatering delicacies.

A story that
begins in 1950

in Bra

From its earliest days, the Ghigliano family devoted itself passionately to viticulture

The first documented traces of the Ghigliano family date from the second half of the 16th century, when they settled in Montefantino.

In 1790, the locality was renamed hamlet Ghigliani, as confirmed by a plaque found in the old cellar, now restored.

In the mid-19th century, the family also engaged in shoemaking, which continued until the beginning of World War I, without ever abandoning wine production.

The post-World War II period marked a turning point for the family. In the 1950s, the company recognized the potential of Piedmont wines and began producing them in small quantities, gradually expanding production.

This growth led to the birth of the Montefantino Estate Winery, now a symbol of wine-making excellence.

The first store was opened in Bra in 2005, followed by one in Turin in 2009 and, finally, a third in Carignano in 2012.

Brothers Mauro and Andrea Ghigliano represent the third generation of growers.

The inauguration of the new winery, a place of continuous experimentation through the use of different winemaking techniques and materials, took place in 2020.

Products

In short, paying a visit to the store allows people to enrich their personal collection or buy fine gifts, and that also play with packaging among elegant boxes, baskets, and mixed packs.

The wines at Montefantino Estate

Wines under the Tenuta Montefantino brand, authentic expressions of the Langhe, are the result of an unwavering commitment to enhancing the area’s grape varieties.

Classic reds include Dogliani DOCG, three types of Barbera and Langhe DOC Dolcetto.

Among the finest wines there is no shortage of Barolo DOCG and Barbaresco DOCG. Among the most appreciated and recommended whites, the following deserve a mention Piedmont Chardonnay DOC and Alta Langa DOCG.

The products of Piedmont Hazelnut I.G.P. Tenuta Montefantino

Montefantino’s experience is also found in the production and processing of I.G.P. Piedmont Hazelnuts from which roasted shelled hazelnuts, cream spread, flour and hazelnut cake are made.

The choice of bag-in-box

In addition to bottles, you can choose, for Montefantino wines, the more practical, economical and environmentally friendly bag-in-box: a packaging that involves a plastic, flexible and sturdy container. Besides being easier to transport, the wine keeps longer without oxidizing.

The Clavesana winery

Passing through the winery you can taste Tenuta Montefantino wines and meet the producers

Since it is a family-run business, it is Simona, Andrea or Mauro who take care of the reception at the company’s headquarters in Clavesana, in the hamlet of Ghigliani 18.

We like to define our winery as “a wine workshop,” where we facilitate the natural fermentation processes of the grapes with study, experience and great respect for the processing material.

Spending moments in the winery allows you to learn about the world of wine and the company philosophy, which is embodied in traditionality and sustainability.

Here one shares values related to the environment, receives advice and learns to appreciate the wines, building a relationship of trust with the producer.

In addition, the charm of the winemaking premises also offers strong evocative power: the historic farmhouse, still retains its vaulted ceiling and exposed bricks.

Here, oak vats alternate with barriques and the most modern autoclaves for sparkling wine making, ensuring a state-of-the-art approach.

Upon request, it is possible to walk among the rows of dolcetto, sauvignon, nebbiolo and chardonnay grapes and discover how the owners care for the vines, trying to reduce the use of chemicals.

The winery tasting

By reservation, it is possible to taste the most iconic wines of the production, accompanied by typical chopping boards, hazelnuts and other Montefantino brand products, including spreadable pasta and cake. The winery offers two different routes: "Tenuta Classic" (30.00 € per person), which includes four tastings, and "Tenuta Senior" (50.00 € per person), which includes five types of wine, including Alta Langa.
