Summer has finally opened wide on this 2024 as well, and we couldn’t shy away from supporting you in your search for activities to do outdoors in the lush Langhe setting.

This guide will take you on a discovery of a rich variety of experiences to meet the most diverse tastes and expectations.

From evocative treks among vineyards and medieval castles, to peaceful wine and food walks among the hills, to engaging E-bike tours through the picturesque roads of Alta Langa: there is something for every nature andadventure lover.

But in this summer recipe we also add stories of morganas and to the out-of-the-box female figures, enhanced by historical, botanical, artistic and archaeological insights.

Our favorite spices? The vibrant cultural scene of festivals such as Monfortin Jazz and the NuoviMondi Film Festival, which celebrate creativity and innovation with an all-Langhar flavor.

Get ready to immerse yourself in local culture and experiences that will go straight into your scrapbook in one of Italy’s hidden gems.

Let’s start right away.

TowerBike

June 21

We start by offering you a guided e-bike tour among the verdant hills of Alta Langa with a final panoramic aperitif.

At 6 p.m., participants will gather in Albaretto della Torre to meet with the Piedmont Region bicycle tour guide, who will provide instruction on e-bike use.

At 6:30 pm, the e-bike tour through the enchanting hills of Alta Langa will start, offering breathtaking views along the way.

The tour is also suitable for children (minimum height 140 cm and minimum age 9 years).

Around 9 p.m., the group will return to Albaretto della Torre to conclude with an atmospheric aperitif with a view.

Participants will enjoy delicious local products, including the renowned IGP Piedmont Hazelnuts, accompanied by a glass of Langhe Rossese from the renowned Castella Winery in Roddino.

Please be aware that the itinerary may be subject to minor changes depending on weather conditions and other logistical factors.

Notturni nelle Rocche

June 21, June 25, June 28 and July 2

How about instead nighttime summer walks proposed by the Ecomuseo del Roero, in collaboration with Pro Loco and local associations, inaugurating their 15th edition?

They will take place in 19 different municipalities in Roero, with varying itineraries on Tuesdays and Fridays in June, July.

Each walk lasts about 2 hours, which includes animations or insights, for an average of 5 km of trail.

These walks end with a final snack and fragrant herbal teas for good night.

All enhanced by animated performances centered on the figures of the Morganas, extraordinary and out-of-the-ordinary women, with historical, botanical, artistic and archaeological insights-a theater under the stars.

It is necessary to wear athletic shoes and it is recommended to have a flashlight during the hike.

NuoviMondi

June 25 to July 5

We are also film lovers , so we suggest the NuoviMondi Festival, a cultural event created by the initiative of the Kosmoki cultural association and the Municipality of Valloriate, located in the Lands of Monviso.

Originally a Film Festival, it has evolved into a project that actively promotes the mountains and the surrounding area through community participation.

Based in Valloriate, a small town with a population of 80 in the Stura Valley, the festival aims to generate culture locally instead of just importing it, promoting local appreciation and local networking.

The strictly mountainous event celebrates the magic of cinema and artistic connections to explore new visions and ways of experiencing the mountains, addressing issues of human intervention and enhancement of natural spaces.

MonfortInJazz

July 6 to August 3

We love music, as does everyone else, so we propose one or more evenings of MonfortInJazz at the Horszowsky Auditorium, located in picturesque Monforte d’Alba-one of the most unique locations in the Italian festival scene.

The natural setting of the open-air auditorium, surrounded by the bell tower, theoratory of St. Augustine and the walls of Scarampi Castle, provides a picturesque setting for concerts.

With a seating capacity of 800, the auditorium provides excellent acoustics and visibility from all angles of the cavea, making each concert a unique experience for the audience and performers.

Mangialonga

August 25

For August 25, don’t make any plans because the Mangialonga in La Morra will be held: a food and wine event celebrating the beauty of the Langhe, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Established in 1988, this year celebrates the Marriage of Silica.

The event is organized by the “Compagnia dei Vignaioli” to highlight local products, offering participants a non-competitive 5-kilometer route through the vineyards, accompanied by tastings of wines such as Barolo, Nebbiolo, Barbera and Moscato, as well as local cuisine specialties.

You don’t need to be a professional athlete-the important thing is to appreciate food and wine in a festive and convivial environment.

The day culminates with a final party in Vittorio Emanuele Square, enhanced by music and DJ sets.

Trekking and cultural walks: Manta Castle and its surroundings

September 8

To end we offer you a gem: against the backdrop of Monviso stands a medieval fortress of severe charm, guarding one of the most astonishing examples of late Gothic secular painting.

It is Manta Castle, located about 40 kilometers from Turin.

Founded in the 13th century as a military outpost, the stronghold was transformed in the 15th century into a sumptuous residence thanks to Valerano, lord of the Marquisate of Saluzzo.

FAI organizes nature guides in its surroundings for cultural walks, from the garden to the woodland street and the walls, to the Ciuchè, and in hill treks starting and returning from Manta Castle to the Castiglia di Saluzzo or Verzuolo Castle.

Not just walks, but a multifaceted project offering themed tours and meetings dedicated to the connections between the environment, health, and the identity of places.

We hope we have given you some interesting insights, we will certainly follow our own advice!
