In Ceresole d’Alba, a twin town of picturesque Saint Paul de Vence, the first beating heart of MIDA, or the “International Museum of Women Artists,” has finally opened.

This incredible museum gem, opened in April 21, 2023, holds a fine selection of artworks from some of the most extraordinary female creative minds, both from Italy and abroad.

The inspiration behind MIDA is the work of Vincenzo Sanfo, a world-renowned curator, who leads this project supported by a prestigious advisory board.

It is not just a museum, but a light that highlights the genius and creativity of women artists, finally bringing them into the limelight.

This evocative space is a tribute to the strength and inspiration of women who, through art, have shaped the world around us.

The Rooms

A church transformed into an international art sanctuary

In the Museum’s spaces, an extraordinary mosaic of artworks spanning a broad spectrum, from Berthe Morisot to Susanne Valadon, Sonia Delaunay to Marina Abramovic and other talents from all corners of the world.

Located in the historic former Church of Madonna dei Prati, MIDA is more than just a museum; it involves the entire fabric of the city, with installations and sculptures that will periodically come to life in specially chosen locations.

In addition, to raise awareness of the talents of as many women artists as possible, not only those on display but also those hidden in the legacy of art, commemorative tiles or signs will be placed each semester that will bring the names and references of these extraordinary women to the public’s attention.

MIDA and MUBATT

Join forces: two museums, one epic story

The MiDa Museum, Museum of Defense and Art, joins the well-established Museum of the Battle of Ceresole d’Alba, giving us an in-depth look at the crucial sixteenth-century event in Piedmont, an event that played a decisive role in shaping European history.

This combination of museum entities represents a unique opportunity in such a small area.

Without a doubt, anyone who ventures to visit these two museums will be pleasantly surprised and have the opportunity to discover a charming village that serves as a natural gateway to the beauty of the Roero and Langhe.

MUBATT (Battle Museum)

Opened in September 2019, it is the result of a collaboration between the Municipality of Ceresole d'Alba and the Tourist Office of Saint-Paul-de-Vence, a charming Provençal village with deep historical ties to the Roero region.

Located in the old market wing of Ceresole d'Alba, the museum offers an interactive multimedia experience that allows visitors to discover the history and curiosities of one of the most significant foreign battles fought in Italy.
