The chapel of saint Sebastian

in Igliano

IglianoThe little church of Saint Sebastian, built near a crossroad of old streets, is a typical rural chapel. Of modest dimensions and shape, without decorations on the facade, it’s entirely built in stone, ina wonderful panoramic position.

It probably is very old, but it has never been abandoned like many other sacred buildings: people living in nearby houses have always kept it beautiful, until the recent restoring of the outside and the creation of a little garden.

Inside ther’s a very simple stone altar, decorated with a fresco of the Virgin Mary with the Child, san Rocco and saint Sebastian: both saints were very popular and invoked as patrons against the pestilences.
