Sunset on the Trail of Enchantment at the Feast of St. James

From sunset to the stars in the hills of one of Italy’s most beautiful villages, on the magical evening of St. James, the patron saint of the village, the saint of travelers and pilgrims. Atmospheres of Enchantment and moments of merriment.

After passing through and visiting the elegant historic center of Guarene, dominated by the unmistakable bulk of the Conti Roero Castle, we will walk The Path of Enchantment at the most evocative moment of the day: sunset.

The Trail, in its first part is a natural balcony over the Tanaro River valley, from which the Langa villages on the right bank of the river can be appreciated.”

The passage between the vineyards and the forest makes the name of the trail well understood: one is truly enchanted by the beauty of the view.

The Trail opens on a broad and scenic ridge of vineyards, then climbs back up into the shade of one of the last summit forests of the village of Guarene.

Reaching the ridge we will proceed in the direction of central Roero, crossing a row of majestic Madernassa pear trees, a prized local cultivar; among vineyards and hazelnut fields the ridge opens the view of the summit villages of Santa Vittoria d’Alba, Vezza d’Alba and Monticello.

On the way back we will encounter numerous viewpoints that will give us unusual glimpses of the small villages of the Barbaresco and Moscato Langa.

We will walk the ridge trail of San Licerio Hill, a vantage point from which fairy-tale sunsets can be enjoyed.

The site allows for breathtaking open views over much of the area, an open-air park on whose slopes excellent wines are produced.”

On the way back, those who wish can join in the patronal feast in full merriment: sausage and chips, wine and drinks, and especially lots of catchy music for dancing with TUTTAFUFFA DJ set.

The walk is organized in collaboration with the Proloco of Guarene, very active young organizers of the patronal festival.
