National Hazelnut Fair: Nizurere Parade

As every summer, for more than 70 years, the traditional National Hazelnut Fair takes place in Cortemilia.

This event, created to joyfully celebrate a premier product of Langhe, has over time been enriched with folkloric moments, spectacular and cultural ones that have made it a reference point for a very wide audience, which goes beyond the borders of Piedmont.

Market

From 9:00 AM, stalls with typical products from Piedmont, Valle d’Aosta, Veneto, Trentino Alto Adige and other Italian regions, the Mercatino dla roba veja e antica, the exhibition of agricultural machinery and the mobile station of Radio Vallebelbo.

Talk

At 11:00 AM a Talk dedicated to typical products from Trentino Alto Adige that meet the hazelnut will begin.

Hazelnut House

Starting at 12:30 PM “Hazelnut House” officially opens, the gastronomic stand set up inside the Cloister of the Franciscan Convent organized by the Proloco of Cortemilia.

Parade

In the afternoon, at 4:00 PM, the traditional Nizurere Parade parades through the village streets, followed by Flag Wavers and Musicians of Borgo Moretta from Alba who will enliven the parade.

Books

At 6:30 PM in Piazza Oscar Molinari, cultural aperitif with Paolo Tibaldi, who presents his book “Abitare il piemontese”, the meeting is moderated by Fabio Gallina; in collaboration with the “Liberi tutti” Bookstore.

Music

At 9:30 PM the music of “Kinder Police” takes the stage in concert.

A Cover Band of all the best Rock, old and new.

Cortemilia

Cortemilia is located in the center of the main Piedmont Hazelnut production area, and because of this, the “Queen Tonda Gentile of the Langhe” finds its natural home and a heartfelt passion for its processing and use.

Here, as stated in the Catalog of Traditional Agri-food Products, the production of the famous “Hazelnut Cake” is said to have been born and certainly established, made known in Italy and abroad by local master pastry chefs.
