National Hazelnut Fair: inauguration

As every summer, for more than 70 years, the traditional National Hazelnut Fair takes place in Cortemilia.

This event, created to joyfully celebrate a premier product of Langhe, has over time been enriched with folkloric moments, spectacular and cultural ones that have made it a reference point for a very wide audience, which goes beyond the borders of Piedmont.

Inauguration

The official inauguration is scheduled for 6:00 PM in front of the Town Hall.

The guest region for this edition will be Trentino Alto Adige.

During the inauguration, the Golden Hazelnut will be awarded to Federica Russo Galla, one of the most authoritative figures in contemporary Italian pastry and recently awarded the title of Master of the Art of Italian Cuisine – Pastry section.

Walk

During the evening, the traditional food and wine walk through the village streets is planned, and numerous musical groups will play in the streets.

Entertainment

At 11:30 PM, a wonderful fireworks display envelops Cortemilia.

Music

This rich inaugural Saturday will close with the djset by “FM Disco Explosion”.

Cortemilia

Cortemilia is located in the center of the main Piedmont Hazelnut production area, and because of this, the “Queen Tonda Gentile of the Langhe” finds its natural home and a heartfelt passion for its processing and use.

Here, as stated in the Catalog of Traditional Agri-food Products, the production of the famous “Hazelnut Cake” is said to have been born and certainly established, made known in Italy and abroad by local master pastry chefs.

The exhibitions and events are all free, the themed appointments cover all kinds of topics and are enriched by meetings with experts and authors of current books.
