January and February

Montelupo Albese is a town sprouted between the two different faces of the Langhe, namely the Alta Langa, with its lush forests and hazelnut groves, and the soft vine-covered hillsides home to the “king” and “prince” of wines, Barolo and Barbaresco.

The small hamlet is located at 564 m above sea level, in an ideal position from which there are splendid views: on clear days the entire western Alpine arc is visible; its name is said to derive from a legend that the place was inhabited by wolves.

Here the summer is never muggy and the winter never too harsh, an ideal place for a relaxing stay.

This must have been the thought of Rosalinde, the owner of Villa La Gioiosa, who bought it in 2018 and restored it to share with others the beauty of this small space of paradise.

The whole property consists of the set of Villa and Dependance with private garden and pool and offers 9 comfortable bedrooms

Rosalinde is joined by Alessandra, who combines her studies in languages applied to tourism with a warm and welcoming nature: she will be the one to follow you through the villa experience.

The Rooms

Tastefully and functionally designed spaces for an authentic and relaxing experience

The entire property consists of the combined Villa and Dependance and offers nine bedrooms, each with private en-suite bathroom and air conditioning, for a maximum of twenty-three beds.

The complex has a large and delightful garden with a private swimming pool and sauna, an outdoor porch with a long table for convivial moments and good food, and a parking lot.

Ideal place for group stays, family get-togethers and celebration of small events.

The mansion

The elegant main house offers six comfortable bedrooms, many of which offer spectacular views of the vine-covered hills surrounding the property, for up to fifteen beds.

On the ground floor is a large and practical kitchen with dining room, flanked by a lovely relaxation room.

In contrast, the second floor houses a hospitable living room and a couple of rooms, while the second floor is devoted entirely to the remaining four bedrooms.

The outhouse

The lovely annex offers three comfortable accommodations, sleeping up to eight people.

On the ground floor is the apartment Il Ghiro, “where it all began” and where the first guests used to stay, equipped with a kitchen, family bedroom and large bathroom.

On the upper floor, with independent access from the outside, are two rooms, facing the inner courtyard thanks to their two private balconies that offer bright green views of the surrounding nature.

The annex, like the villa, has its own private garden.

Leitmotif: being local

Nerbo of La Gioiosa's philosophy is its adherence to the human and territorial hummus that surrounds it

At La Gioiosa everything is local, from the housekeeping staff, to the food you eat in the house, to the wine you drink.

Great value is placed on local traditions and consequently there is a passionate effort to contribute to them.

Special emphasis is placed on the house being traditional, unique, and above all local.

The project as a whole revolves around one pivot: the deep connection with the land of Langa and its inhabitants.

A double-stranded bond is knowingly woven with area partners and “neighbors” so as to provide guests with a unique vantage point into real local daily life, Piedmontese culture and its typical food.

A natural compulsion of this kind of mental set-up is respect for the environment and its dynamics.

Rosalinde has spent her professional career in sustainable innovation and has applied her knowledge in this regard to make facilities as environmentally friendly as possible.

Indeed, numerous choices aimed at sustainability and helping the planet are applied at Gioiosa, such as the use of solar panels for hot water, heat pumps for heating, septic tank and recycling.

Additional guest services

During the stay it will be possible for guests to book typical dinners cooked by local people as well as chefs directly at the villa, order dishes cooked by Luigina, the cook at the nearby Agriturismo La Ruota, or have lessons in Piedmontese cooking. But also rent bikes or vespas to visit the beauty of the Langhe, organize tastings, excursions and even hot air balloon rides!
