Jousting Chapter

As per tradition, the Chapter will present the fall events in which the villages of Alba will take part and award the honor of Friend of the Joust.

On Saturday, the Beppe Fenoglio Hall will host a long-awaited event of the Joust of the Hundred Towers, during which the 2026 Palio Banner will be officially unveiled.

The heart of the ceremony will be the presentation of the banner, created for this edition by the internationally renowned sculptor Riccardo Cordero.

His work will blend contemporary art with the historical identity of the region, giving life to the prestigious prize that the city’s boroughs will compete for during the event.

Friend of the Joust

During the event, the “Friend of the Joust” Award will also be presented to Silvana Fiora.

This recognition is awarded on the twentieth anniversary of the publication of the newspaper dedicated to the Joust, which she has edited with passion, dedication, and tireless attention to the promotion of local history.

At the end of the institutional ceremony in the Beppe Fenoglio Hall, tradition will breathe life into the streets of the historic center with a series of events open to the public.

The historical parade

The procession in period costume will depart from the Cortile della Maddalena and cross the heart of the city until it reaches Piazza Risorgimento.

The blessing of the banner

In front of the Cathedral parvis, the 2026 Palio Banner will receive the traditional blessing.

This is a propitiatory rite that renews the deep bond between the community and its roots.

The flag-wavers’ performance

Closing the festive afternoon will be the performance by the Flag-wavers of the Alba Boroughs.

Accompanied by the sound of clarions and drums, they will make the colors and charm of tradition soar through the sky of Alba.
