Lower Langa

Negro Giuseppe

Wine Producer in Neive

Founded in 1985 by oenologist Giorgio Negro, the winery is located in Gallina, one of the most suitable areas for producing typical Alba DOC and DOCG wines.

The winery’s name is a tribute to Giuseppe Negro, Giorgio’s father, who personally managed the vineyards from the early 1950s, producing a small quantity of wine.

Created from the careful restoration of a Langhe farmhouse, the location offers a splendid view of the surrounding vineyards and the towns of Guarene, Govone, Barbaresco, and Neive.

The area is that of Barbaresco DOCG, and just a few hundred meters away is the historic center of Neive, whose village, due to its sites of historical and artistic interest, is part of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy network.

The Wines

Nebbiolo grapes tell a story of territory and identity

Nebbiolo is the grape variety that best represents the winery’s identity and finds expression in several labels.

Langhe DOC Nebbiolo Monsù

The name Monsù, a typical term from Piedmontese tradition that literally means “sir,” identifies the Langhe DOC Nebbiolo Monsù.

This is a red, still, and dry wine produced in approximately 10,000 bottles. Depending on the vintage characteristics, aging lasts about 18 months in oak barrels.

Langhe DOC Rosato Monsù

The Langhe DOC Rosato Monsù comes from the same grape, vinified as a rosé. The result is a wine that is pleasant to drink, yet at the same time structured and important.

It pairs particularly well with aperitifs, fish dishes, white meats, and cheeses, and is also suitable throughout the meal.

Barbaresco DOCG

From the nebbiolo grape also come the Barbaresco DOCG Gallina, Albesani, and Pian Cavallo. Aging takes place for about 20 months in oak barrels, followed by approximately 10 months of bottle refinement, with timing that may vary depending on the vintage characteristics.

Only in the best vintages is the Barbaresco DOCG Riserva Gallina also produced, with aging lasting five years.

These wines pair excellently with red meats, roasts, game, and cheeses, and are also distinguished by their suitability for long aging.

The tasting rooms

The winery's wines can be tasted in three different locations on the property

The crutin, originally used as a bottle storage area, is a small cellar located in a semi-underground and cool area.

The main tasting room, carefully designed in every detail and connected to the Monsù terrace overlooking the vineyards, features glass walls with views of the surrounding landscape.

From this vantage point, guests can enjoy a view over the vineyards and taste the wines in complete relaxation.

Quality above all

Giorgio Negro has based the winery's production on quality. His wines are sought after by the most discerning Italian and international restaurants.
