The Avignolo Farm, founded in 1998 by Giuseppe Chiapella, is right on the border between Dogliani and Monforte, surrounded by land suitable for viticulture.
The combination of climatic and environmental factors makes the grapes of these lands particularly rich in aromas and flavors, an element that the family manages to translate into the wines produced thanks to meticulous care of the vineyards.
The vineyards are supervised by Giuseppe and his son Mirko, who personally take care of checking and thinning the bunches with skill to obtain a selected and valuable production.
In addition to the vineyard, in the colder areas where the quality of the wines would not have been optimal, the Avignolo company has decided to include hazelnut plants.

The Wines
A land that lends itself to the maximum expression of Dolcetto, in the hands of expert winemakers
Not opposed to modern techniques, the Chiapellas prefer to work in compliance with ancient traditions without letting themselves be too influenced by market trends: a demonstration of this can be found in the centuries-old cellar of Avignolo, a place where wines have always been aged, great for its thick stone walls that maintain a constant temperature in all seasons.
The company’s vineyards are predominantly clayey-limestone in nature, from which a prized Dolcetto is obtained.
The Dolcetto grape
The Dolcetto vine is perhaps the most typical of the Langhe and the grape it produces is characterized by a low acidity that gives the impression of a hint of sweetness.
From this variety the Avignolo winery produces the Dogliani Superiore DOCG “Utin dle Munie” from the homonymous cru and the Dogliani DOCG “Avigneu”.
The other wines
The selection of Avignolo is completed by the Langhe Barbera DOC, a vine with a more acidic grape and more structure, the Langhe Nebbiolo DOC, a full-bodied and well-structured red wine, and the Langhe DOC Bianco, a fruity white.
Finally, in 2011 they came out with the Rosé Wine, a fresh and ready-to-drink product.

Visits & Tastings
Visit a traditional reality of the Langhe, which does not follow market trends, but preserves traditional methods
The visit to the Avignolo Farm is an interesting study of how the vineyard and the hazelnut grove manage to fit together perfectly.
During the tour they’ll explain the timing of both sectors of work, with an introduction to the terroir and the characteristics it gives to wine, and the possibility of a walk among the hazelnut trees.
You will take a tour of the cellar, where you can follow the wine production process and find answers to any curiosity, after which you will be taken to the tasting room for a tasting.
Here you can choose between two different types of tasting:
- Minimum: tasting of 3 wines with a small tasting of typical local products → € 5.00 per person
- Complete: tasting of all the wines produced paired with cold cuts, cheeses, a first course and a dessert → € 18.00 per person
