The wine-farm Cà Neuva of Sergio Abbona is a family-run business, established to meet the requirements of anyone who loves wine.
The farm is located in one of the most charming places of the Langhe: Dogliani. It stretches for 10 hectares where there are the vineyards, the wine-cellar, the office, the tasting-corner and the house.
Cà Neuva started its business in 1924 but since the end of 19th century the Abbonas have been winegrowers, handing on from father to son the passion and love for this work. This wine-farm blends tradition and technology both in the vinification and in the cultivation of vines, in order to obtain elegant, harmonic and genuine products.
Dogliani is an elegant but not demanding wine, while the Superiore is more structured and complex with a spicy aroma and good acidity.
The Barolo is from Castiglione Falletto and is characterized by its capability to age at length, yet at the same time it is ready to drink after the minimum 4 years of obligatory aging.
Another great red wine is a blend created in 2013 and dedicated to grandfather Celso, the company’s founder. Hence the name of this wine consisting of Barbera, Nebbiolo and Cabernet: Excelso.
The other reds produced are Barbera, Nebbiolo and a rosé, along with the whites Roero Arneis and the Classic Method Sparkling Wine.
Visits to the winery
Outside the house, there is a wide colonial space, surrounded by a striking landscape of beautiful hills and vineyards. The Abbona family can welcome anyone who wants to visit the cellar, the vineyards and of course taste the wines. We have no parking problems for coaches, buses and overnight stopping off point for campers.
We begin with a tasting of the wines guided by Silvia and Sergio, who will tell the story behind each label. Each glass is accompanied by a degustation of local and typical products for a real aperitif in the wine cellar.
We then move on to the fermentation and aging rooms, where we’ll discover the production process and how the wines are bottled and labeled.
The winery offers two types of visits to the cellar:
- Mini: 5€ per person: tasting of 3 wines with a few appetizers
- Complete: 20 € per person which includes a tasting of all the wines accompanied by cold cuts, cheeses, sauces, paste di meliga (the tasty biscuits made with corn flour) and other typical dishes of the traditional Piedmont cuisine.
When reserving you can order gluten-free products for a tasting session that’s suitable for celiacs.
The winery can accommodate large groups of up to 60 people.
The visit lasts roughly 2 hours and the languages available are Italian, English, French, Russian and Chinese.
Got a camper?
The green area surrounding the company can accommodate up to 24-28 campers.
If you have a recreational vehicle don’t forget to mention it in the form.
