Io, Barolo

On Saturday, September 12, 2026, the great tasting event organized by the Strada del Barolo e grandi vini di Langa returns to Castiglione Falletto, one of the most iconic villages in the Langhe, in the heart of the Barolo DOCG production area.

The event, now in its thirteenth edition, will transform the medieval village into a prestigious showcase for Barolo and its producers.

The 2026 edition holds special significance, as it coincides with the twentieth year of activity of the Strada del Barolo: two decades dedicated to enhancing the territory and promoting wine culture.

Tasting

From 4:00 PM to 9:30 PM, over thirty Barolo producers will be the stars of a traveling tasting, winding through the characteristic streets of the medieval center, in the shadow of the imposing 11th-century castle, offering participants a breathtaking view of the UNESCO heritage vineyards and hills.

Here, enthusiasts and connoisseurs will have the opportunity to taste a wide range of crus and different vintages of Barolo, as well as other fine local wines.

Tasting Lounge

To mark the twentieth year of activity of the Strada del Barolo, the program is enriched with an exceptional preview: “The Twentieth Anniversary Lounge, an exclusive tasting of Barolo 2006“, a journey through time hosted in the charming setting of the little church of Sant’Anna in Castiglione Falletto.

Participants will have the rare privilege of tasting 4 Barolo DOCG wines from the 2006 vintage.

The historic vintage

2006 was an exceptional harvest, rated with the prestigious 5/5 stars by the Consortium for Protection.

Characterized by a cold winter, a balanced spring, and a hot summer without oppressive humidity, this vintage produced Nebbiolo wines of extraordinary longevity, supported by dense tannins and significant acidity.

With 20 years of aging behind them, participants will taste bottles that have reached the peak of their evolutionary curve.

A two-voiced narrative with the producers

The experience will be led by Sandro Minella, FISAR sommelier, ONAV taster, professional tour guide, long-time collaborator and head of tastings for the Strada del Barolo, as well as an accredited “Narratore del Gusto®”.

The added value of this event will be the presence of the producers in the room, who will be directly involved to talk about the 2006 vintage, the challenges in the vineyard, and memories of the harvest from their personal perspective.

The event is organized by the Strada del Barolo e grandi vini di Langa, in collaboration with the Municipality and Pro Loco of Castiglione Falletto and Turismo in Langa, and under the patronage of the Association for the Heritage of the Wine-growing Landscapes of Piedmont: Langhe-Roero and Monferrato and the Barolo & Castles Foundation.

Wines & food

To enrich the offer, there will be food stands from producers associated with the Strada del Barolo and show cooking by the Strada del Riso Piemontese di qualità, which will serve exquisite risottos prepared on the spot.
