Le Strette is one of the wineries pioneering the rediscovery of Langhe DOC Nas-cëtta in the municipality of Novello, its historical homeland.
The winery, founded in 1997 in Novello by brothers Mauro and Savio Daniele, owes its name to the ancient hamlet where it is located: a very narrow lane that winds between the old houses and opens onto an enchanting landscape that spans from the Barolo hills to the Alps.
Today, after Mauro’s untimely passing, the company is run by Savio with the help of his daughter Ludovica.
The daily work in the vineyard and winery is aimed at enhancing the territory linked to historic indigenous grape varieties, often little known or nearly extinct.
Production wines
In one of the most renowned areas for cultivating the Nebbiolo grape, production includes 4 labels of Barolo DOCG, two of Langhe Nas-cëtta from the Commune of Novello DOC (including the cru Pasinot), Nebbiolo d’Alba Superiore DOC Pasinòt, Barbera d’Alba DOC and Dolcetto d’Alba DOC.
The owners personally conduct the visit
The visit includes both the new winery and the historic one that now houses the tasting room.
The winery, well integrated into the hill that conceals it, is a mix of modernity and functionality. It is carved into the tufa, the classic sedimentary sandstone that allows ideal conditions to be maintained constantly for wine maturation.
The owners welcome guests to the winery and conduct the tasting
During the visit to the cellar, it is possible to witness the grape processing stages
Le Strette project begins with the recovery of the old brick cellar dug directly into the characteristic tuff
The Wines
The company is certified according to the National Quality System of Integrated Production
At the winery you can taste and buy the two labels of Nas-cëtta, five labels of Barolo, Nebbiolo d’Alba Pasinòt, Barbera d’Alba Superiore Persole and Dolcetto d’Alba Rocca dei Bergera.
Barolo Bergera-Pezzole and Corini-Pallaretta come from two interesting crus in the commune of Novello. In contrast, the Bergeisa cru is located in the commune of Barolo.
Barolo DOCG Le Strette is obtained by blending in varying proportions the three estate crus, so as to enhance the complexity of this wine.
Barolo from the Commune of Novello represents the company’s new offering, a return to origins, when Barolo was produced by blending Nebbiolo grapes from different hills to obtain a complex and harmonious wine.
This wine is created by blending the Barolo wines from two estate crus: Bergera-Pezzole and Corini-Pallaretta in proportions of 50% each.
The winemaking rooms
During the tour you will visit the rooms that house the steel tanks where Nas-cëtta from Novello and Dolcetto await bottling and the wooden aging rooms where Barbera d’Alba, Nebbiolo d’Alba Superiore Pasinòt and Barolo age.
From here you reach the bottle shop and the bottling and packaging room.

The Nas-cëtta of Novello
The key contribution to the recognition of an indigenous wine
The production of Nas-cëtta at Le Stretteis about 9,000 bottles/year, plus 1,500 bottles made from the crü Pasinot ®, historic vineyard and cradle of Nas-cëtta.
The Pasinotti Project
Pasinotti is the historic hill of Nas-cëtta on which the oldest vineyard dated 1948 falls.
Here the company has invested, since 2014, in a planting project to restore vineyard areas, aimed at enhancing their territorial distinctiveness.
The area, in the southern part of the municipality of Novello, includes a vineyard collection of 750 vines obtained from the selection and multiplication of 29 old healthy plants identified in three different Novello vineyards (including the oldest Pasinotti vineyard).
This Project was created in collaboration with Dr. Stefano Raimondi of the University of Turin.
A unique all-Piedmontese native.
Optimally sun-drenched vines that express a complex Barolo with an important tannic fabric
