Right at the foot of Grinzane Cavour Castle in the Lower Langa region of Italy, Cantina del Conte’s Wine Shop welcomes visitors from all over the world and guides them to discover the wines they produce.
Opened now more than 40 years ago, in 1980, the store is now run by the fourth generation of the Pelissero family.
However, the link between the family and wine is much older: it all began in 1921, when Francesco, grandfather of the current owners, bought the farmstead owned by Marchesa Alfieri in which the business still resides today. With it the first vineyards.
Entrepreneurial skills and a great love for the land led his son Sergio, at the turn of the 1960s and 1970s, to expand the estates and inaugurate the store.
Today Sergio, despite his 87 years of age, continues to follow the production and hospitality stages with passion, with the help of his daughter Daniela and grandchildren Luca and Francesca.

The Wines
The wines produced are those representative of Langhe and Roero: Arneis, Dolcetto, Barbera, Nebbiolo.
Sergio has managed, over the years, to pass on to his daughter and grandchildren his credo in the vineyard: to enhance the individual varieties and the intrinsic characteristics of the vine, accompanying it from the vineyard to the glass without alternating traits.
This is done through skilful care of the vineyard, with manual selection of the bunches and targeted and never excessive treatments, but also through careful winemaking “tailored” to each wine.
The result is a high-level selection of wines typical of the Langhe and Roero: starting with Roero Arneis, moving on to still, fruity red wines such as Dolcetto and Barbera, and then concluding with Nebbiolo in its various forms.
Moscato d’asti DOCG and a selection of grappas complete the line.

Visits & Tastings
Visit the winery: you will have the opportunity to meet Sergio and the rest of the family, and taste the production wines
Since this is a family business, Sergio himself will welcome you to the winery and guide you along the tour, accompanied by other family members.
The tour begins with an account of the company’s history, the difficulties and satisfactions that have allowed it to grow more and more over the years.
It then continues with wine tasting, which varies depending on the type of tasting chosen.
At the end of the tasting, for those who wish, it is possible to request a walk through the vineyards adjacent to the winery for an in-depth look at the work in the vineyard.
