Agreasy encapsulates the very ethos of the company: Agri as agriculture, the return to the roots, staying true to our history, with hard work and care for each tree. Easy as simplicity in welcoming and caring for all the riches of the hazelnut, applying to them that dash of innovation that also becomes a personal challenge.

These are the words of Tania Pavesio that tell the philosophy of the Agreasy farm, a small family business located in Magliano Alfieri.

Tania and her husband Marcello focus their work on growing and processing the hazelnut Tonda Gentile del Piemonte PGI, recognized as the most valuable in confectionery and open the doors of the laboratory and of the tasting room to all who want to discover their secrets and taste their sweet products.

The line is completed with all-natural cosmetic products that are also hazelnut-based.

A story that
begins in 2016

in Magliano Alfieri

Cultivation of the Tonda Gentile hazelnut of Piedmont

Roero has always been known for the cultivation of fruit trees and vineyards. First the grandparents, then the parents of Marcello, Tania's husband, had their farm here.

Agreasy was founded in 2016 as an evolution of the family farm, when Tania and Marcello chose to focus their work on the cultivation of the Tonda Gentile del Piemonte hazelnut, whose specifications guarantee a product of high quality and authenticity.

In 2018 following a careful renovation of the historic farmhouse and family home, located in the heart of the village, the working areas are converted.

In the old barn, the hazelnut processing workshop comes to life, and in what used to be the living room, characterized by a barrel vault with lunettes, the store is born: a cozy environment where Tania receives guests for tastings.

Products

Hazelnut: great ally for health, low fat, lots of vitamins and antioxidants

From the processing of the IGP Piedmont Hazelnut Agreasy offers two product lines: food and cosmetics.

The food line

A selection of Piedmontese gastronomic excellence. Hazelnuts are processed to make various delicacies: roasted, sweetened, salted hazelnuts and classic cakes.

Alongside the more typical and tradition-bound tastes are new flavors. So here are the spice pairings: curry, anise, cardamom, and ginger.

There are also the hazelnut oil, the delicious spreadable cream, and baci di dama, composed of two pastry shells joined by chocolate that recall two lips intent on kissing, perfect with a cup of tea and capable of enhancing a simple coffee.

The cosmetic line

Through cold pressing of the raw fruit, an oil with multiple benefits is extracted, which becomes the basis for the production of natural cosmetics:

  • natural liquid shower soap
  • solid soap
  • lip butter
  • body cream

Necklaces

A collaboration with artist Chiara Tarditi has also resulted in a collection of necklaces made using hazelnuts, shells and fine tie fabrics.

Agr+Easy Necklaces can be purchased directly from the farm as well as all hazelnut products.

Specification assures consumers of quality and authenticity

The plants range in age from 5 to 30 years. All hazelnut groves are included in the control circuit of the IGP Piedmont Hazelnut (Protected Geographical Indication), a Production Specification that establishes the characteristics of the product: from cultivar to production area, cultivation systems, marketing and labeling.

Visits & Tastings

A kid-friendly experience and pastry classes for grown-ups

The experience, that costs 8,00 €/person, includes a visit to the hazelnut groves and the tasting of many sweet and savory products that win the taste buds of adults and children alike.

A trip to Tania and Marcello’s is an engaging educational time: a chance to learn about the many interesting facts about the hazelnut tree, such as double blossoming, the evolution of the fruit, and ground harvesting techniques using specific machinery.

Tania tells with passion and simplicity about the territory that hosts the crops, the characteristics of the soil and the product. Elements required for PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) trademark recognition.

For the simple walk in the hazel grove, a pair of shoes suitable for outdoor use is recommended.

The cooking and baking classes

For groups of 10 to 15 people, Tania organizes hazelnut cooking and baking classes in the workshop.

Under the guidance of a trusted chef or pastry chef, it is possible to learn some techniques and thus amaze with your creations.

This is a unique opportunity to enhance one’s creativity that can also turn into an experience to give as a gift.

Tania is happy to provide more information and costs to interested persons.

The IGP Piedmont Hazelnut

During the visit, it is possible to discover the stages of processing the fruit and its characteristics

The Piedmont Hazelnut PGI harvest takes place between August and September.

During the year, treatments are minimal and very targeted: only those necessary to plant health are implemented.

Harvesting, once done manually, is now done with harvester machines that suck the fruit from the ground. After harvesting, the hazelnuts are sun-dried and sorted.

The product is stored in classic jute bags in closed, well-ventilated rooms.

The hazelnuts are then ready to be shelled and roasted at partner laboratories before returning to the farm, where, after a final quality check, they are partly processed and packaged according to the customer’s needs.

The IGP Piedmont hazelnut is highly valued for its high shelf life and fine, lingering flavor.

A day in Magliano Alfieri and the Roero

The town of Magliano Alfieri is characterized by the imposing 18th-century castle that belonged to the Alfieri family. Within its halls, the building houses the landscape museum and the plaster ceiling museum. The latter documents a special technique for creating special decorative plaster panels that were placed on the ceilings of peasant houses in some of the villages in the Roero, Asti and Ovadese areas. There are numerous wineries around Magliano Alfieri, and trails for outdoor enthusiasts, hikers and cyclists wind through the woods and vineyards.
