Fabrizio Battaglino is a farmer from Vezza d’Alba in Roero, continuing his family’s winemaking tradition.

Winery visit

The visit to his estate begins at the Colla and Sergentin vineyards, where you can admire landscapes different from Langhe, characterized by narrow gorges and steep slopes. Roero, in fact, is an area less affected by tourism, preserving its natural heritage almost intact.

The visit continues in the cellar, to learn and understand the winemaking process and wine aging, before moving on to the guided tasting.

Fabrizio will tell you the story of each label, guiding you to recognize the characteristics of his wines: you can choose from different types of tastings, depending on which product interests you most.

    The barrique: a tool to be tamed

    To age his wines, Fabrizio uses only barriques. Well aware of the common opinion regarding this aging method, Fabrizio is very confident and determined to change the mind of anyone who visits him. In his view, wines aged in barrique are balanced, elegant, and tell the story of the grapes they're made from without letting the barrel's toasting dominate. For Fabrizio, the barrique is a working tool that must be "tamed."

    To celebrate the splendor of his estate and share it with others, Fabrizio offers a marked trail that will lead you through hills, historic vineyards, and centuries-old trees. You'll find colored stakes indicating the various points of interest, and colorful "bunse" (containers once used for verdigris) marking the path.

Fabrizio’s company is small in size, but with a strong character.

The vineyard area counts 5 hectares of vineyards, which allow for family management and, above all, attention to the smallest details of the entire production cycle.

In the vineyard, nature grows lively and lush: Fabrizio does not use herbicides and is committed to limiting chemical treatments to a minimum. Always with a view to environmental respect, the cellar is powered by green and clean energy, thanks to solar panels that eliminate the need to use gas.

There is another element, however, that characterizes Fabrizio Battaglino’s winery, distinguishing it from almost all the realities of the territory.

The producer has in fact made a virtue of necessity, making a bold decision that goes against some of the most popular opinions.
