Accompanying wines

Guests will be served breadsticks and bread to enjoy between glasses, to cleanse the palate and fully appreciate each wine, along with tastings of local products from small local producers and a slice of hazelnut cake, a typical confectionery excellence of this area of Piedmont.

The Castagnole delle Lanze tower

The building is located in the highest part of the old village and dates back to 1880.

It was built at the request of Count Paolo Ballada di Saint Robert, who used it as a watchtower and observatory, but also as a shelter for his collection of plants and insects.

Count Ballada was a great enthusiast of entomology and botany, as well as an illustrious scholar of military technology.

When he moved to Turin in 1884, he left the ownership of the tower and the surrounding land to the Municipality of Castagnole, which fifty years later inaugurated the Parco della Rimembranza (Remembrance Park) on that land, dedicated to the fallen of Castagnole in the First World War.

The Bel Sit winery

You are in the historic home of Barbera d’Asti DOCG, and tradition has it that the production of Barbera di Castagnole delle Lanze, named after the municipality, began right here at this winery.

Andrea and Gianpiero Scavino, owners of Bel Sit, belong to a family of winegrowers. In 2019, they purchased the entire Bel Sit property, choosing to invest in Barbera d’Asti and the Castagnole delle Lanze area, the home of this historic wine.

This is a red wine that today stands as a product of excellence, earning the appreciation of critics and connoisseurs alike and holding its own among the great reds.

Bel Sit

Discover the faces behind the experience

Andrea and Gianpiero Scavino belong to a family of winemakers.

In 1996 they inherited from their father Giancarlo the share of the agricultural company I Vignaioli di Santo Stefano: a historic company for the production of Moscato d’Asti DOCG, located on the hills of Santo Stefano Belbo.

In 2019 they bought the entire Bel Sit property, choosing to invest in Barbera d’Asti and in the territory of Castagnole delle Lanze, home of this historic wine.

It is said that it was in this company that the production of Barbera di Castagnole delle Lanze named after the municipality began.

Defined as legendary by Cesare Pavese and generous by Giosuè Carducci, Barbera has gone through moments of alternating fortune.

Today it is presented as a product of excellence, able to obtain the appreciation of critics and connoisseurs and able to share the table with the great reds.

The estate also includes several hectares of Moscato and Cortese.

The winery

The cellar is located halfway up a hill in the shape of an amphitheater facing South-West, in an excellent position for the production of quality wines.

The perfect exposure allows for complete ripening and consequently particularly complex yet fine and elegant wines.
