Balkan party

Communities meeting: flavors, music, and dance.

8:00 p.m.

Taking the stage to warm up the night is the music of the Positive Music Band from Macedonia .

9:30 p.m.

On stage: Fabijan Balkan Brass Band from Serbia .

One of the most overwhelming brass bands in the Balkans brings a powerful, dance-filled concert to the stage… it will be impossible to stay still.

The country

Roddino is a small village suspended between the rich Langa of Barolo and the Alta Langa.

Music and truffles, commitment and lightheartedness, roots and future.

Roddino is all of this, and it tells its story through two events that express its soul: the Fair as a celebration of the land, and Mataria as a collective exercise in culture, freedom, and dreams.

Both are only possible thanks to the community: 80 volunteers, out of 420 inhabitants, bring something extraordinary to life every year.

The party

Since its debut in 1992, Mataria ‘d Langa has never been just a simple music festival.

It is a collective ritual, a stage for ideas, a place where people listen, think, dance, and build community.

In these thirty-three years, it has hosted giants of the Italian and international music scene: from Billy Bragg to Subsonica, Max Gazzè to Africa Unite, Eugenio Finardi to Mau Mau, Modena City Ramblers to Cristiano Godano, Casino Royale to Massimo Bubola, and Lucio Corsi, who took second place at Sanremo after his 2024 live performance in Roddino.

Mataria has brought luck to many artists, but above all, it has built a lasting emotional bond with those who play and those who listen.

Literature, dissent, and critical thinking

For years, Mataria has also been a festival of ideas, and the 2025 edition confirms this with an intense literary and civil journey.

The theme of the year is: Right or Duty to Dissent? Responsibility and vision.

Dissent as a form of active citizenship, not just as opposition but as a creative impulse, will be the common thread of the meetings and dialogues that will bring the festival to life:

  • Carlo Greppi, historian and communicator, will present his new book “Figlia mia,” dedicated to Franca Jarach, a young victim of the Argentine horror and a symbol of all denied stories.
  • Boban Pesov, an artist and cartoonist from Roddino, will talk about the genesis of his graphic novel “C’era una volta l’Est,” a bridge between personal memory and collective history.
  • Paolo Di Nicola will close the circle with “Sottotraccia,” the book documenting the musical and human journey of the Gang, through the voices of their fans.
