The history of the winery begins with its founder Bartolomeo Demarie, who understood the potential of his land and chose to invest time and energy in the world of wine.

Over time, the encouraging results allowed the winery to grow, and his son Giovanni also became involved in the business.

The baton then passed to his grandsons Paolo and Aldo, the third generation of Demarie winemakers.

Today, they are the ones carrying out the work in the vineyard and the cellar, in order to pass on their knowledge to future generations.

The Wines

Through soft pressings and aging in selected woods, the characteristics of the grape varieties are enhanced.

Roero represents an extraordinary terroir, capable of giving great wines and, at the same time, still little known and far from mass tourism.

The Demarie family has always made wine from its own grapes, bringing out the flavors of the land and the characteristics proper to native grape varieties.

Nebbiolo is the most important grape in Piedmont, which is best expressed on these hills in the Roero DOCG. It is a tannic wine, suitable for aging, which is aged in strictly used barrels.

The intense aroma with notes of violets, raspberries and blackberries is enhanced by elegant spicy touches. In the mouth you can immediately feel the wine’s great body, harmonious, warm and enveloping.

There is no shortage of the other great reds of the Langhe: Barolo and Barbaresco, joined by Barbera d’Alba, Langhe Dolcetto, and the sweet sparkling wine Birbet, made from brachetto grapes.

Arneis is the other symbolic grape variety of the area, a variety that has been recovered and enhanced in recent years and is offered here in still and Metodo Classico versions.

The winery’s offerings are complemented by Moscato d’Asti DOCG.

Experiences

Familiar welcome in a traditional Roero setting, but forward-looking.

The tour begins in the fermentation rooms where the operation of the tanks and the winemaking process are explained.

It continues in the bottling and labeling area, the most technological part of the winery.

You then arrive at the aging room, the romantic part of the cellar, where the wines rest in wooden barrels.

Finally, we reach the long-awaited moment of the guided wine tasting, accompanied by delicious samples of local products such as cold cuts, cheeses, jellies, pastries, and hazelnuts.

A green cellar

In building the new winery, Aldo and Paolo chose to follow the path of environmental sustainability.

To produce electricity, the choice was made to use a photovoltaic system on the roof, and if this is not sufficient, the company sources from the Grosio hydroelectric plant.

Heating is provided by a biomass boiler, fueled by waste wood chips, including pruned vine branches.

A phytodepuration system cleans the wastewater, allowing the filtered water to be reused to irrigate the winery’s green spaces.

Passion for the environment

These measures have resulted in A+ certification, the highest energy certification for buildings.
