June 6, 2025

The historic Berta Distilleries in Mombaruzzo opened the doors of their renovated museum space called the Berta Museum on Wednesday, June 4, 2025.

The new exhibit represents the evolution of a journey that began decades ago and has now been completely transformed into an interactive and immersive experience worthy of Europe’s most modern industrial museums.

Conceived by Turin-based studio MindTheGap, the project took more than a year to complete and aims to tell the story of the Berta universe.

The exhibition path

Animmersive experience that recounts the origins of Italian distilling intertwined with the all-Piedmontese welcome.

The itinerary is divided into three thematic areas, enriched by visual languages and multimedia content.

History

The first part is a plunge into history. Founded by Paolo Berta in 1947, the company comes to life in material evidence that preserves its memory and identity.

Original documents, period photographs, historical recipes and symbolic relics-such as the first production license and the key to the first door-illustrate the company’s birth and trace its evolution.

People

Sound installations celebrate the hospitality and community that revolves around the distilleries, from employees to guests at accommodations such as the Villa Prato Charming Residence and Relais Villa Castelletto.

Grappa

The last section is dedicated to grappa: the production heart of the company takes shape among stills, vintage bottles and a unique collection of historical glasses and labels. A fascinating journey into the world of distillation, among objects that tell the story of craftsmanship knowledge passed down through time.

The tour ends with a symbolic piece: the famous 3-liter bottle with Swarovski cap, a tribute to Paolo Berta and his vision.

Firm roots, broad horizons

The inauguration was attended by the full Berta family, flanked by institutional representatives such as the Mayor of Mombaruzzo Carla Luigina Scarrone the Mayor and President of the Province of Asti Maurizio Rasero and many other special guests.

The images from the event – filled with smiles, toasts, and shelves lined with fine grappas – speak louder than words about the identity of a company that has turned the art of distillation into a true family vocation.

With the opening of the museum, the Berta world is enriched with a new piece.

The Berta Museum joins the universe that includes the four wineries, the historic pastry shop in Mombaruzzo, the Villa Prato relais, and the activities of the SoloPerGian Foundation, fully embodying the spirit of an enterprise that has been able to grow without ever forgetting its roots.
