The long-awaited Truffle Fair arrives: moments of panic in the capital of the Langhe which sees all its spaces fill up for almost two months, with a very high rate of internationality.

The streets are flooded with exciting smells and everywhere there is a festive atmosphere, which for a month like October is anything but obvious.

But these days, in which the regular tourists take vacations to purchase truffles, not only the gastronomy shops are active: the whole province offers unusual events and activities, taking advantage of the spotlight to publicize the culture of the territory.

Porte Aperte in Cantina for the Truffle Fair – Langhe, Roero & Monferrato

During the Fair, wine is not lacking: what is missing are the real winery visits, and not in those popular and well-known ones, but in the hidden, familiar, traditional businesses.

Porte Aperte in Cantina is a unique opportunity to enjoy the wonderful colors of the hills in autumn, tasting excellent wines, meeting the producers in person, letting them guide you through the discovery of their work.

Fresh Pasta class: Plin and Tajarin – Monticello d’Alba

Eataly Monticello offers an interesting class for all ages.

Together with the head chef, each of the participants can prepare two varieties of typical Piedmontese fresh pasta: Plin and Tajarin.

Starting from the dough you will discover the secrets to spread it correctly, make it thin enough, and then cut the Tajarin and make classic plin stuffed with meat.

You will all then cook, season and sit at the table to dine together with the dishes prepared.

Langhe and Roero in the square… with Granda! – Alba

Along via Cavour and in Piazza Risorgimento, in the heart of the historical center, the products of excellence of the territory will be on stage: cheeses (Raschera, Castelmagno, Toma di Langa, Brus), fruit and vegetables (Cervere leek, garlic), some of the best known confectionery specialties (Praline, the traditional Hazelnut Cake, the Baci di Cherasco), honey, salami, traditional bread

Alba will be pervaded by the scents of the various specialties of the Granda.

Each product will be dedicated a special structure, where the public can taste and buy the products, thus creating a targeted path of the great qualities of the Alba area and the province of Cuneo.

Alongside the gastronomic excellence, wine will not be lacking: according to tradition, a “Wine Island” will be set up, where almost 100 labels of Langhe and Roero will be presented for tasting, representing the best wine production in the area.

Wine for kids! – Castagnole delle Lanze

Kids will be guided through the discover of the world of wine and grapes in the cellar of Gianni Doglia, spending the afternoon in an unusual place.

While the children will be entertained with fun and educational activities, parents can visit the winery and taste the wines.

An initiative aimed at bringing children closer to the world of viticulture, a fundamental sector of this region, also offering a family – friendly opportunity for today’s tourism.

Specialized markets: ancient toys, painting and paper – Cherasco

The specialized markets are flanked by the “Cherasco Market”, dedicated to antiques and collectors in general.

The tendency in specialization by collectors and enthusiasts is growing strongly and more often the real connoisseurs prefer the themed event, rather than a market with every kind of offer and proposal.

So, in the streets of Cherasco, you’ll find the antique toy and used modeling market, the art market with painting, sculpture and artisanal artistic production and the Paper Market.

Alba Underground – Alba

The underground Alba route is a tour led by a professional accredited archaeologist for a selection of three stages among the 32 of the city’s archaeological itinerary.

The itineraries are different from date to date and end at the Federico Eusebio archaeological and natural sciences museum.

The museum houses the Treasures of the Tanaro, ie the fossils of the Mastodonte di Verduno (5.5 million years) and the Balenottera di Alba (8 million years old) found along the banks of the river Tanaro.

Furthermore, you will be able to observe three rich permanent sections of prehistoric, Roman and natural sciences, for a total of 21 exhibition halls.
