The setting for the action is a kitchen: around a table gather the four characters who, donning their aprons, begin to live out the intricate exploits of the Malaysian pirate.

The pivot of the action is the vegetable, in all its variations: carrots-soldiers, celery-forest, blood-red tomatoes, potato-bombs, ornamental parsley.

And then wooden spoons as swords, graters as cannons, a basin full of water for the Borneo Sea, paper towels for telescopes, and also paper bags, small knives, food choppers…

The story emerges in the minds of the spectators, then explodes with a wild frenzy that is contagious.

The kitchen is Sandokan’s home, the pirates’ ship, Lord Guillonk’s villa, Malaysian forest, beach of Mompracem.

Faithful to the ideal of an ironic everyday exoticism (Salgari never ventured beyond the Adriatic), the show – through the repurposing of simple everyday objects – is a tribute to imagination, which risks drowning in the superficial blob of our times, and at the same time a satire of contemporary life.

Small men (us) and their big dreams clash in a comical and elementary stage play. Who will prevail?
