Maurilio Vaira and his wife Bruna welcome visitors to their eighteenth-century estate located in Vergne, a small town bordering the town of Barolo.
The property covers a single plot of 23 hectares and includes 11 hectares of vineyards, a truffle reserve and 10 hectares of cereals.
An ancient history that of the Vaira family which has 16 generations of wine producers.
A past documented by certain sources of which Maurilio is the narrator for his guests and which from time to time is enriched with new pieces resulting from continuous research.
Those who wish to stay in the area can choose from various solutions: there are in fact farmhouses, bed and breakfasts and an agri-campsite.
Maurilio and Bruna welcome the guests and lead them to the discovery of the territory and the company production
The processes respect the environment and are aimed at creating products that are as natural as possible and free of chemicals

A story that
begins in 1540
in Narzole
The Vaira family represents a unique case of its kind. Today it has reached the 16th generation of producers
Over the years, Maurilio Vaira has carried out numerous researches to reconstruct his family's genealogical tree.
A story that dates back to around 1490, the year of birth of Faustino Vaira, the first ancestor of whom there is certain information.
Faustino Vaira, as evidenced by the documents in the Barolo land registry, already in 1540 owned plots in the municipalities of Barolo, Cherasco, Monforte and La Morra on which he already practiced the activity of wine producer.
Starting from 1650, the family business also took place in the hamlet of Vergne.
This small hamlet, divided between Cherasco and Barolo until 1880 for reasons of territoriality and wars, partly passed under the municipality of Narzole with the advent of Napoleon Bonaparte.
For 16 generations there has been an uninterrupted succession of wine producers that has been passed down from father to son to the present day.
The Winery is located in the Estate owned by the family, bequeathed to the Somascan Fathers by Countess Gallaman and born, according to the annals, as a house of delight and holiday resort by the will of the Barons Defanti of Cherasco.
Francesco Natale and Giovanna, Maurilio's parents, first rented and then purchased the building with the intention of raising their five children, continuing the winemaking activity undertaken by grandfather Guglielmo.
The first bottles with the company brand saw the light in 2006 by the will of Maurilio.
Today the Company presents itself as a structured reality that produces about 30,000 bottles of typical Langhe wine every year.
The Wines
With the construction of the new Winery, wine production became the main branch of the Company
From the 11 hectares dedicated to viticulture, the following are obtained: Barbera d’Alba, Dolcetto d’Alba, Langhe Nebbiolo and the younger Ànsamisa rosé wine, the Samuele TrAmici white wine and the Memorie red table wine.
Production
The Barbera d’Alba Corsaglia e Pascolo DOC, named after historical company cadastral locations, is born from the blend of grapes coming from an 80-year-old historical vineyard and from two plantings from 1988 and 2000.
On tasting it is soft but structured and possesses excellent aging potential.
The Langhe Nebbiolo Guglielmo e Natale DOC, a tribute to Maurilio’s grandfather and father, is made from grapes planted on the estate from 1969 onwards.
The Dolcetto DOC Le Mamme is obtained from 1988 vineyards and is dedicated to mother Giovanna and wife Bruna.
The Rosato Ansamisa, whose fantasy name is an acronym of the initials of the 4 children, is born from the rosé vinification of the estate’s grapes.
The white wine Samuele TrAmici, dedicated to the memory of his son, is a soft wine of conviviality and friendship. Perfect throughout the meal, it pairs well with aperitifs, appetizers, fish and first courses.
The Memorie 1540 red table wine, directly tapped from the barrel, is available in Bag in Box, cans and demijohns and from 2024 also in bottles.
This is the latest arrival and is produced with carefully and expertly selected red grapes based on the veins of the earth and the exposure of the farmhouse’s nearly 23 hectares in a single plot.
The particular processes in the vineyard and in the cellar, for the most part still manual, ensure that Memorie rightfully enters among the winery’s most unique wines.

Experiences
The feeling with the owners and the pleasure in building relationships
The family’s goal is to transmit not only a sensory experience, but to communicate important values with simplicity: passion for work, for the territory and family unity.
Maurilio’s narrative begins with a walk through the rows adjacent to the Winery.
We talk about the territory and observe the different types of vineyard. We delve into the theme of work in the vineyard and how each product is influenced by the soil, exposure and climate.
A visit to the private truffle ground allows for a deeper look at aspects related to the woods and truffle hunting.
The tasting
Before reaching the tasting room, some secrets regarding work in the Cellar, grape processing and aging in barrels and bottles are discovered.
The experience takes place in the special 18th-century room capable of hosting large groups, has a price starting from € 23.00 / person and includes the cellar visit, the walk in the vineyards (weather permitting) and the tasting of 5 wines accompanied by local products, cold meats and cheeses.
An additional glass of Barolo DOCG costs € 7.00
The large garden in front of the estate and surrounded by the family-owned vineyards offers a breathtaking view that extends to the Maritime Alps.
Upon request, the tasting can therefore be held outdoors even in the late evening.

Truffle Search
The activity is available in the private woods from September to the end of January
Truffle hunting is one of the most appreciated experiences by tourists during their stay in Langa, characterized by the almost symbiotic relationship between the hunter (trifolau) and his dog (tabui).
Maurilio is accompanied in the search by his dog Snoopy.
Finding the truffle is guaranteed, as it is a simulated search within the private truffle ground.
However, the discovery of spontaneously ripened White Truffle is not excluded.
The experience
The experience has a price of € 30.00 / person, takes place with a maximum of 10/15 people and can be combined with the classic visit and tasting.
The duration of the search unfolds over two different paths of different lengths.
The truffles found during the search belong to the trifolau, but can be purchased following weighing and based on the seasonal value.
